sorry, i should have put this up a month ago. time to think about your 2012 picks.
i am willing to run this for 2012 but if people would rather someone else do it then please say so then volunteers can be called for.

i will get the rules up soon.
last year it was a wee bit complicated with latecomers.
it is easier to set a start date(ist trading day) with 2 weeks of acceptance of latecomers. there are always latecomers and one cant be too rigid, after all it is just a bit of fun.

Why thank you Sir! Glad it worked.

For future reference: use search engine, and in the page which comes up, go to Edit at top left of page (File, Edit, View etc). Drop down in Edit to Find on this page and key in relevant to what you want, which will then highlight everything on that page you are looking for - to the right of the Find box you will see some options. Simply click on the x to left of Find box to remove this great little tool when finished with it. Tool always available on any page on the net.

Shrewdy, check out my signature, that is how you change or maintain the title of a thread.

Also, take into account, you need to be the starter of the thread to change such title as it is permission based upon the original poster~!

Sorry missed your post, see Karen's fixed you up... Probably wasn't me, used to date Mr Sergio's (Nicholas) daughter back in the day, doubt I'd be on a magazine anywhere near their shop lol! I did don the #1's for the races a few times last week, was fun.

Hope things are going well for you, are we in that upturn (for which we've been 'well positioned' for some time!) yet?

Sounds good, or for those that post them late or enter late, perhaps a 5 or 10% penalty fee for late entrance, plus a stack of verbal flogging on the forums here, Bwaaahaaahaaa~! :)

1st dec ok for a start date, i had figured that as soon as the thread heading showed up would have been a good start date. doesnt matter that much.

What's this about starting early, suppose to be a 2012 competition, Not a half way thru 2011 and 2012 competition.
Next they will putting up Xmas decorations in October/November - oops there was. :)

My 2 cents plus GST worth - enter your picks when you like - have to be in by 31 Dec and prices set as 1st trading day of the the year - not latecomers , that way the entrants have had plenty of time.

Xerof
25-11-2011, 09:47 AM
Agree Jen, lets rip anytime - just need the terms and conditions - I'd be happy with price set off day of posting, coz that will influence a few calls I suspect, but if thats too hard then last price dealt at year end 2011. No late comers

you great nana. this is 2011. you are a year older than you think.

jennym
29-11-2011, 09:45 AM
i thought i was clear, it never ceases to amaze me how people get the wrong idea.

the idea is that you can submit your picks anytime from when this thread starter is put up.

the actual start of measurement of prices starts at close of lasst trading day of 2011.

there are always some latecomers.
i am happy to give a couple of weeks grace and still have the same start day for measureing the price(1st day 2012). sure, some of the prices might go up in that couple of weeks but it is very very few that dont come down again. often the best picks are the ones that have their run towards the end of the year.

jennym

rules for 2012 competition.

i have copied last years rules and addes a bit at the end:

no stocks under 1c will be accepted..
Dividends will not be added to return...
takeovers will result in a new pick to the contestant, at the adjusted rate with new picks made quarterly...
5 stock picks only...
no options etc...
each stock pick will have a weighting of $10,000 (20% of portfolio)... ($50,000 in total for portfolio)...
so performance can be posted in percentage returns, and/or $ returns...
As I do not follow all stocks, Competitiors will be required to notify me of any change to specific stock selections, shall they change...(takeovers,stock spilts etc)...

all stock prices for the open of this years comp will be taken from the closing price of 2011... all closing prices at the end of the year will be taken from the last trading price on the last trading day of 2012...

if one of your picks hasn’t listed at the start of year we will just take the opening price on the day that it lists if it lists after 31 dec 2011 otherwise close on dec 31 if it lists early.

There are always latecomers, people on holiday busy on leadup to xmas etc etc.
It was too complicated in 2011. this time there is 2 weeks grace. That is an absolute deadline. The price will still be from the close of the last trading day of 2011.
any suggestions are welcome here.

Someone has to start this comp off, & doing so this year didnt hinder me too much!

My picks & thoughts ;)

CXM - Iron Ore advanced explorer with JORC resources, plenty of cash, large supportive Chinese shareholders
EOC - Coal advanced explorer, covers thermal, pci & coking coal with JORC resources
KZL - Zinc/Lead/Copper producer, interesting pipeline of projects, owns ~62% of MUX (Au,Cu,Ag)
MLX - Tin producer, massive Nickel/Cobalt JORC resource, plenty of cash & listed investments
OEL - Oil producer in the Phillipines, receives a slight discount to Brent oil price, All eyes on BHP!

Im assuming come 2013 these companies will have advanced there projects & the market re-rates them accordingly!

Good luck everyone, with the global economy still on a knife edge, we will need it!

My picks for 2012 are:

HTI....very beaten down stock, but seems to be winning more contracts of late
CYU....massive Chilean potential, and initial resource at Elaine project expected in Q1
ZYL....beaten down, but a good chance of regaining lost ground in 2012
PMQ....small market cap but a potential multiple-bagger at Delaney if current drilling goes well. Very keen MD
MUM....will be a producer next year, have own mill and a 400,000 oz resource that's growing. Market cap just over $20m.

JBmurc

yes already have my picks dominated by precious metal shares as I think they have some catching up to do with there underlining cashflow growth..

CVR-soon to be producing Gold/silver in Kaz tiny market cap to likely cashflows
CCU-soon to be silver producer has had delays, planned 2moz p.a production low costs per oz
PXG-steller explorer that keep discovering deposits of gold in the heart of W.A gold land ,toll treatments add to cash
SSN-shale oil play in the USA,has the land, has the cash will continue to drill an discover Oil, smart mgmt, high success rate
KRE-Rare earth metals has 25% growing to 80% on DFS on cummins range JORC REO deposit looks likley to be much larger deposit valued 3-4mill less than cash in the bank

hold all of the above

At the moment put me down for:

NSE - large shale permits right next to BRU with Low EV and Conoco $109m farmin to begin drilling next year
IDC - Multi million oz gold resource in PNG. Updated JORC pending and feasibility study due next year
MEO - Busy year coming up with one or two wells at Heron/Blackwood funded by ENI and drilling at Seruway. They've built a great team (mostly ex-exxon) and Tassie Shoal looks more viable everyday.
AJM - First coal production this year, drilling business, Iron ore and lithium. Lots of cash and riding on AGO's coat tails. Mt Webber DFS first quarter 2012.
NWE - Wildcard. Arrowsmith fracturing and flow rates are key.

This is my current five stock portfolio.

NWE - high risk shale -say no more.
OEL - cash, near term production upside, big drill in H1 with BHP.

Looks like I broke rule No.1, Jenny (HTI is currently under 1c). Apologies.

Can I replace HTI with HOR please.

Thanks in advance.

ZRL.......at 1.4 cents and real name Zambezi Resources Ltd

AZS......at 2.4 cents Azure Services......so blue sky potential in Mexico

NWE.....well known on this forum.....has had a couple of false starts but may finish strongly.

PIO......at 2.7 cents.....recent capital raising will provide money to carry on drilling for gold in WA.

GOR.....at 32 cents.....another goldy with good prospects in WA. Vast acreage to play in.

Good luck Lou, you are hoping that the winners come home in alphabetical order:)

Yeah ad,

There are some interesting picks as well as styles it seems for this years comp.

I like a few selections of and have a few common stocks that I hold that I also wish to pick but left with other stocks that I feel helpless because I can't pick them.

Meaning, its a pitty we cant choose say 10 stocks, and each have $50K to either divide up or spread across those 10 stocks, as we can diversify a bit better for market conditions, as this is reality atm. and also look what has happened this year while we reach the close to the end, only 6 people out of 101 in the Positive Zone.

Can we Choose Cash out @ say 5% instead of choosing stocks? LOL :p (I am serious)

If we have a script that automates everything, maybe we could have a competition where you could rebalance at the end of the month and change your picks?

If we had that script KW then you can automate the results to do that on the day and hour :)

There is a site for some quotes to get work done to spec called ELANCE which is for programmers whom undergo tasks like the one mentioned.

For approx $100 -200 bucks the work can confidently be done with Entry System and results page along with small admin for manually editing and contolling the start and stop dates.

rules for 2012 competition.

i have copied last years rules and addes a bit at the end:

no stocks under 1c will be accepted..

Hi Jenny, on the bottom bolded line you added your rules.

Although, what is to stop somebody from comparing the price 2 weeks back & cherry picking stocks that have re-rated by say 200%.

Not that I would but if it were me that was late, I would probably use that to my complete advantage so perhaps an equal footing would be better and may I suggest that they from the day the enter their picks be the day they get to choose? As to me, that would sound more like a balanced rule compared to the other which seems a hole that is there open for cherry picking. LOL

Fortunately, I dont wear a blue and read cherry coloured stock picking cloak and mask with a high desire to win the comp. :p

LOL Jay,

Yes I realise what that says, but nobody is actually saying what exact date is the close of entry, 2 weeks is not an exact date and I wrote previously questioning the cut off date and time of entry pick but never got no answer to my previous question.

So Jay, can you or somebody just give me a date or time of "when" as 2 weeks is for late comers or for folks whom are on holiday.

Other than that, I can only see "otherwise close on Dec 31" which is tomorrow, so would I be right in thinking that the cut off is tomorrow?

i never thought that people would be confused over the exact cutoff date.
common sense would dictate that the cut off would be the sunday of the weekend after the first 2 weeks of trading which is sunday the 15 of january.
let common sense rule so i declare the absolute cutoff date to be sunday the 15th of january for the 2012 competition.

i havnt typed any of these in yet, i will be looking for ones that break the rules as i type them in, eg under a cent, oppies etc.

Jenny, common sense where I come from may vary from city to city, country to country in some way suggesting that some of us folks here dont have any common sense?

Its the open to interpretation rule that individuals find themselves potentially guessing when the exact moment is.

Which is like say having a Birthday Party in next fortnight, and inviting everybody here on ShareTrader and only giving them the address.

Question is, how many would turn up on a Friday? how many on a Saturday? or even a Sunday?

And because they miss the party, you then make them feel real good by saying, "use common sense" LOL

Sorry for the interpretation story but, I am not from NZ and my common sense may be internationally different :)

Interesting to see last years results, investing in the market at point of history, is very short term. One year is far to long.
This is the ist time in a long time the ASX is down two years in a row.

Will it be three, well Dan Denning thinks so and it stands to reason, the ASX is China. Common sense tells me to be out of the market in 2012.[/URL] As you can see copper is an image of all metals, the drop in price is pure profit, that has disappeared
from most ASX mining companies. The quarterly results will not be pretty, it is also made worse by the high OZ dollar, double wammy.

Happy hunting for 2012 folks.

http://www.kitconet.com/charts/metals/base/spot-copper-1y.gif (http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/copper_historical_large.html#1year)

Then, of course, there's China. (extract from Dan Denning)

The Chinese stock market has fallen 20% in 2011. It's no coincidence that BHP finishes the year down 22%, and Rio down 28%. In fact Aussie resource stocks fell 24% -- nearly twice as much as the wider market and four times as much as industrials and banks.

The impact of China's slowdown has been felt everywhere. The iron ore price bubble has burst. Fortescue Metals is down 30%, Mount Gibson down 44%, Gindalbie Metals down 65%.

You can expect this trend to continue as China's slowdown speeds up.

At the end of 2012 I wrote: "With money supply in China growing at over 50%, it's not hard to see where the biggest inflation is: asset prices. This is why I fully expect a crash in Chinese property prices."

That crash is now well underway.

A statement released two weeks ago by the China Index Academy said that 13 cities saw sales declines of more than 50%. Guiyang, provincial capital of Guizhou, fell 74%.

According to Zhao Xiao, professor with the University of Science and Technology Beijing Chinese house prices will drop [U]another 15% to 20% in 2012,

So the China crash isn't coming.

It's here.

People here will go on thinking Australia is immune from all of this.

But just remember, the financial system is a global system. Weakness and instability in one part of the world are transferred to Australia via higher borrowing costs and, ultimately, lower demand for resources.

So, in short, I think the stock market will be lower in 12 months than it is today.

How much lower?

I think one area where profits won't be down is for Gold & silver miners. We could get some bigger dividends & therefore hopefully rising stock prices. What happens after the first 3 months though depends on what the Gold/Silver price does.

i have made it sunday because that is the last day before we get new information about how the asx is going to do in the next week. it is easy to define sunday rather than define the time at which mondays announcements start showing. you have the same info on sunday night as you have on friday. (unless you get it outside the formal asx related channels and i dont want to go there)

i should have been clearer in the first place.

Hi Jenny, there is a typo creeping in. One of my picks is NWE. But it is showing as NEW. There are some others who have also picked NWE and it shows as NEW.
A quick look on Stockness shows no stock with NEW ticker.

Hi jennym

My picks:

SFZ - Iron producer in Brazil. Strong probability of being taken over by Vale
GGX - perennial under performer, but has shale permit in Canning basin which doesn't seem widely known. Could surprise.
RAW - Should be re-rated if CTP finds oil in Surprise well. Has one big drill coming up in central Australia. Boom or bust.
AVI - Copper may have done its dash, but who knows. This is an under appreciated copper play.
PPP - Most will be pissed off with this one and have bailed by now. So it's due for a surprise move :)

MHM - Aluminimum slag recycler, first plant in Victoria fully operational and profitable and now rolling IP out globally to change Aluminum industry. First US plant confirmed on the back of 3 contracts.
ADO - Healthcare with IP in binding application that sharply reduces cost of diagnostic testing. 3 contracts in place providng revenue and over 60 healthcare companies testing.
LYC - Rare earths, Malaysian plant just awaiting final approvals and completion to enable first production and first mover advantage.
MEL - CSG and conventional gas, large reserves entering commercialisation phase. Corporate play in 2012 likely.
WCL - CSG producer, close to Gladstone

Just guessing here but I imagine the thinking behind picking div payers is that they are more likely to hold their value in what looks like being another challenging year for investors. Or have I got that (you) wrong, Liz?

Well IMO, its all up in the air, as at times we all seem to enjoy the feeling of thinking we know what may or may not happen, but truth be known we all just go along for the ride....lol

Ok, I was going to throw some conservative picks up but cant really seem to manage as need at least 10 stocks make some type of balanced portfolio.

Here are my 5 picks for 2012.

AUT - AURORA OIL & GAS (oil)
AXE - ARCHER EXPLORATION (graphite)
JAL - JAMESON RESOURCES (canadian coal)
PXG - PHOENIX GOLD (obviously)
ROB - ROBE AUSTRALIA (mongolian coal)

Have a great 2012 everybody, and Heads up all the way so lets not all become too complacent~!

Yes, I know... but I tossed up whether to go for the spec punts again and decided I'd prefer to play it "safe" and have to wear the loss of the extra 5%+ I'd expect in divs. My record on spec punts is abysmal!

Way to go for sticking to your guns Liz, as if I had a chance to choose stay out with Cash I think I would have taken it for this year...lol

Would be good to see what folks swap if or should they choose to modify their picks.

If posters could do this, it would also make life easier for Jenny from a maintenance perspective.

And also other users can see the shuffle or strategies going on so a double bonus :)

Dunno KW, but hope the order Wiz has put them in is not the short term results otherwise yikes :eek2:

But after last year, I can understand why this year there is only 84 entrants this year rather than over 100 last year.

Gidday Wiz,
You have my first picks and amended picks on your list. If you remove the first with PXG in it that would be fabulous.

Good luck everyone and lets hope we get more than 6 entries in the green like 2011!!

Hi Goldrush,

Welcome to these ShareTrader forums mate.

Good to have picks set adn I see you are a Oil fanatic hey.

Also, are you from UK? You have been reg'd for quite some time so an interesting time to post with the comp, however good luck with that hey :)

Hey DF,

Yeah joined the board years back - got a bit burnt in the GFC and dropped out for a while. Back on board and more wise - hopefully!

Currently based in the UK but from Wellington originally.

Mixture of oil (shale), uranium and your favourite - manganese! ;-)

GL all.

Not 100% sure your data is right - my yahoo portfolio is showing 1.1% not 0.4% - using the starting prices as per your previous posting.

Wow,

Wiz, are you sure you got that right there mate, as I have never come close to 1st in a stock picking comp..LOL

May as well enjoy the feeling while its there I guess :t_up:

Enjoy DF, well done.

So many picking NWE in the comp and so many of us actually owning the stock as well.....where the masses go is generally not a great place to be. Hope we are in the right place!!!

Thanks Jenny.

Belg,

I'm intrigued. What is your rationale behind going for the big four banks?

I ask only because if you're right, then a lot of my thinking about 2012 is going to be wrong, so I'm genuinely curious.

G'Day people.

I don't post often but I do enjoy browsing here and seeing how others invest. Thanks for sharing.

My picks are
ATR
ACB
CFE
ORD
PNA

Just a bit of a Speccy-Ozzie-Chinesey-Laosy-Minerally punt really.

Hold them all in the real world too. Though this year might shift cash back into a bit of carefully selected commercial property.

Good luck everyone!

Hi Jenny. If i remember rightly, we could alter our picks within the two week grace period? If that's the case, could I please swap remove HSN from my picks and replace it with ATR. If not possible at this point, no problem.

Cheers and many thanks for the work you put into this comp.

from memory,

nxr iron ore, an unusual one, yet to drill but should need to drill a whole 1 or 2 metres. near a railway line, dso, guinea. if they pull this off, ultra cheap opex and capex, iron ore price could come down a bit and not worry too much, zero strip ratio, high risk because havnt drilled yet but they walk on it.

ajm lithium, early days, quite shallow. iron ore jv with ago, prod expected end of this year i think, coal in indonesia, a mix og high grade thermal and coking, waiting for approval for initial coal production mid 2012. plenty of cash.

btu coking coal in nz. need to do some battle with doc, forest and bird etc. johnnyboy and henchmen pro mining. risk of low prices for coking coal coming up though.

srm gold do or die, wait for permission to drill next to mml in thailand. middlmass.

abu gold, a zillion shares on issue but lots of ground, they are steadly working it up.

i might rethink these, i have until sunday the 15th of january to change them.

i will change btu to wrg.
wrg is at the 'we are looking for contracts stage' they have developed their product and have secured their first contract. water desalination in an increasingly desertified world with global warming. it should stay above the price depths to which it plummeted last year.

Aside: does anyone know of any "professional trader" pics for 2012 shares. KW kindly mentioned 4 others in 2011. it will be interesting to see the top 5 this year. i wonder if nwe will be there? [tfic].

Hi Wiz,
Can you please drop the second of my picks, the one that has CBQ can go. cheers

Scott Phillips, Motley Fool - QBE, CCL, WDC, TLS (sorry only 4 here)

Huh?

Dont think you are allowed to only pick 4 KW, but I could be wrong here.

Hi Jenny,

I've been away so if I'm too late to put an entry in, c'est la vie. But if not, I'll have a tilt at SXY, FNT, NDL, PGI, IDC. Thanks for all your hard work with this.

A brief conversation with jennym indicates 4 entries possibly allowed. This of course gives rise to what about one entry - all eggs in one basket. And if so is this divided one or by five. So i am accepting entries of five or less picks until otherwise moderated/determined by jennym. the 10 entries from the "professional traders" [for comparison] have been split into 2 x five pick entries. Thank you KW.
my thoughts are that the "professional traders" picks are for comparison only - for fun.
I'm sure it will be interesting and as current handler of the wooden spoon i fully intend dipping it into the mix and stir vigorously.
I fully expect to be told what to do. lvmol.

wizAlvin

PS: a thought that occurs : as there are only 4 available entries the addition of the top of the top 5 may make up to five picks.

Huh? Well, for what its worth, I think this comp is slowly running off the rails

If we can now have 1 pick then all we need to do is weed out the highest performing stock and pick it~!

Have to agree with you Drilly, after all its your bad picks that pull the goodies back. The rules are the rules stay with them!!

Huh? Well, for what its worth, I think this comp is slowly running off the rails

If we can now have 1 pick then all we need to do is weed out the highest performing stock and pick it~!

This competition is not going off the rails.

They have a 2 week grace period in the nz competition. Sunday 15 jan is fine as opposed to Friday 13 because the next new information about share performance comes on Monday morning.
I remember entering the competition almost a month late when shrewd crude ran it but no one complained about him. he did a fine job.
Kw has simply put up some picks by professionals for comparison, one of which has submitted 4. wizalvin was wondering what to do about it. I have decided to list it as 4 but for comparison only because it adds interest. It is the percentage gain or loss that is interesting.
It will remain as 5 for all real entries.

Below is what I posted early in the competition. These rules seem to have been carried over year after year. They can evolve with improvements over time.
The bit at the end is about late entries. In 2010, the deadline was end of dec with acceptance of late entries. Same last year. Same but simpler this year. Should simply be a deadline 2 weeks into January and that is it. It looks like the nz competition is operated like that. I am a slow learner.

An improvement could be clarification on the 2 lines:
5 stock picks only...
no options etc…
As it stands, this implies that you must pick stocks as opposed to options etc and can go up to 5. Perhaps it should readas follows
You must pick exactly 5 stocks.
They must be stocks, no options etc etc.

Any comments on this?

rules for 2012 competition.

i have copied last years rules and added a bit at the end:

no stocks under 1c will be accepted..

Also AGL by John Beverage seems not to be a ticker. so possibly a 4 pick also.
I will put all the "professional Traders" into their own list for comparison purposes. Thanks KW, jennym.

If its not too late can I drop SER & add AQO.
Thanks.

Wizzer - you need to show the prices to three decimal places to allow for correct compilation of the prices (stocks trade to 1/10th of a cent, unless over 10 cents, even then they trade 5/10ths)

Secondly, I know we're only playing for the bragging rights, but those who enter late do get an advantage in pricing, given the entries are backdated to use the historic 2011 closing price. My view (maybe for next years comp) is to simply set the closing date in the second or third week of January, hard and fast rule, but make the initial price the closing price on the day picks are posted. This give nobody an advantage in any shape or form.

Hi Jenny,

Well, the thought of off the rails was when only 4 picks sounded like being allowed, and then even 1 pick...lol

I thought to myself, had that been the case, I would have chosen either 2 or 3 stocks and been happy with that.

With regards to the Other so called Pro Picks, why not let the community pick them some type of Pseudo Stock 5th stock to enable them an equal footing?

Thanks for the clarification.

wizAlvin
11-01-2012, 03:00 PM
I thought the opening price was based on when you submitted them, not backdated. So if you submit them today, you get today's price. Please confirm Wiz or Jenny?
Listed above. jennym has confirmed "all stock prices for the open of this years comp will be taken from the closing price of 2011... all closing prices at the end of the year will be taken from the last trading price on the last trading day of 2012..."
by the end of the year, is 2 weeks going to make a difference. look at my track history last year i think i led out early.

all calculations are made using c# double street loads of decimal places so will be adjusting the display as the code evolves.

this simplifies the competition.
everyone has until the 15 jan to select or make changes. every one is in the same boat.
i asked for suggestions on this when i posted the rules on 29 nov last year.

2 weeks in a year is not significant, as i have said earlier, front runners can often turn into back runners very easily. it only takes the local dictator to seize all assets to do this for example. another type of example: arm in its day went to $1.2 on rock chips, drilling sent it back to 10c. you just cant predict that far ahead. including professionals picks also illustrates the lack of predictability over a year because they dont do that well.

i am sticking to the rule that the price is taken from that date because i believe that it will not influence the competition.

Every body, 4 more sleeps before you can not submit new entries or changes to existing entries.
Once you have slept 5 times, it is all over.

Very well explained Jenny, thnx~!

I did ask a question a while back regarding these issues but got no reply, however I do agree with what you say, 1 year is a long time in the market and anything could happen.

We could all just pick the stocks with the most gains for the short term appearance of that we may look in front, but will it look or appear that way by the end of the comp? Who knows, more likely Not, than Likely anyway.

Plus, you are the comp runner, so these are your rules.

As you say, 4 more sleeps and then its off and running. Though at some stage, I would love to see some Automation added for these ShareTrader Competitions.

Meaning,

Users can Add or Edit Entries Directly from their profile.
Comp is a sticky as normal at the top of the thread
Comp Admin can set the open and cut off dates for the comp.
Rules of the comp also will be shown in the users profile (if entering)
Comp results would be updated daily EOD at 4:30 or 5pm ASX time.
Weekly comp results optionally sent by email to users if ticked to do so.
Results posted in Thread sticky by a displayed variations of stats & or sortable options.

(day, week, month, quarter, half year, year, low to high, high to low, by money, or by %)

Food for thought, but to have this system in place would make running a comp a relief and anybody can do it with little or no experience, just login, set the start date, the grace period date, the close or end date.

The cost of this automated system would be minimal to get made, as I myself or somebody else on the web team could implement this into the database, the user profile and the Sticky on the Thread where each comp is to be done.

I have babbled on about this for quite some time now (years actually) Any thoughts out there? or am I alone again?

things like splits, consolidations, ticker changes, takeovers, takeovers with extra money etc etc are what wizalvin is making up some algorithms for.
there was a takeover with extra money sometime during 2011. all sorts of crap can happen with these things.
not as easy as it looks to automate this thing. a good idea though.
your help will be welcome, especially at the getting it onto the website end with what you have suggested.

Jen, I sure understand that when all these extra off sets happen, they must be maintained and it is not easy to automate that so I agree 120% with that.

As you know, getting the time to do this is the most tricky thing. I was going to make a start on it over Xmas just gone, but had to do a heap of other maintenance on a variety of things so out the door that opportunity went.

Was even going to launch a listing on a site called eLance whereby you can ask a programmer to do a quote or see how much they can do for $100 bucks, and you can get a bucket full done, as what is being asked is not huge, and implementing into the site is something I can do if needed as a while back I done a bit of PHP and MySQL previously.

The extra stuff or off sets, well , they would still need to be done manually, although if Wiz is knocking up an Algo that covers that then all the more power, as this is one problem that always or continually seems to need sorting regardless of automation.

Cheers~!

jennym

yes, finding the time is a big problem. wizalvin got part way at least by making it easy to run in a days worth of data to get a result. its is the one offs etc that can be the pain. i think shrewd crude did it all by hand in 2010 and he couldnt publish results very often because of the time it took to do one.
i think most of the programming has been done by wizalvin, it will need integrating into a site.
i think if we just peck at it, it will get done in the end.

I agree that the advantage one gets in the first two weeks is minimal over the 12 months of the comp. I was 5th this time last year and finished 100th. Looks this year history is repeating itself. lol

Oh sheebers possy, dont say that, as I can see that I am now 5th and no way in the world I want to finish last, :p
