My uni has an investment club, and it has a fund that we manage, circa $15k. So nothing too serious. Previous committee members chose shocking stocks to invest in, so now they're taking suggestions from members.

What would your stock picks be and why?

As no ones living is dependent on it, and we're all young, it's angled more towards growth stocks I suppose. NZX stocks only.

There is a thread [just down the page a bit] Where to invest?.You could start by reading that.

I would also recommend a look at the annual share picking competition for examples of picks and performance...

Why not try www.investopedia.com (http://www.investopedia.com) stock simulator. You get more "money" to practice with and lose nothing. 15k goes a long way at the first aisle of the supermarket!

What uni? Why don't you have a look at the most picked stocks in the 2012 NZX stock picking contest and just buy those?

Would have thought the purpose of being in an investment club would be to DYOR and enjoy the results of that work though lol :D
