Just interested what brokerage rates you pay from NZ firms, what is normal
At Craigs I pay 1% on any market and I trade about 12 times per year. They say their normal rate is 1.5%. Is 1% high. Of course they say they offer research for this.

I use asb secuities for online trading, they have a minimum fee of $30 up to a trade of $8000,then its on a half a % basis.I used to use direct broking & they were 1%,so I think thats the going rate. The reason I do online trading is I dont like to use brokers advise [rather use my own intuition, based on information available].One of the things I dont like about brokers is that they buy shares in their own right & then sell them to their clients [so naturally they are going to reccomend these shares to clients,so that they can make money]

I'm on .3%, decent volumes though, no advice. (I'd pay NOT to have broker advice)

NZ I pay 30bps for Internet trades and 50bps for trades through a broker. In AU I pay 50bps through broker and 10bps through DMA ($100 per month minimum)

If you pay more than 0.5% these days, you better make sure your broker is working hard to make money for you and give you good advice and good allocations of any really good IPOs and placements.
