Hi all,

I see Moosie has been organising a meeting in Auckland for all ST members and was hoping to gauge interest for a similar meeting in Wellington. I'm fairly new to all this so would find it useful to be able to have a chat to those who have been in the game a while to get some ideas/tips on how to get the most out of investing etc. It'd also be nice meeting a few new faces :D.

I was thinking sometime around mid to late February.

Cheers,
Dan

I'd come down and say hello - where are you thinking for venue Capt Dan?

I'm keen , the problem is we all usually say that, then only a few turn up. I'm not keen on catching a train home late by myself, how about a Saturday afternoon?
Feb 22nd would work well for me or the night of Feb 21 as I have a hotel that night. :-)

Unfortuaately my visit to Well is on 7-8-9 February. Visiting relatives and going to see the Tasmanian Devils at the Wellington Zoo. In both cases, keep your hands in your pockets and wear a codpiece.

Let's say Thursday 27 Feb at The Malthouse.

Nice and central for everyone. Also a fantastic range of beers for those inclined to have one or two :p

Always forgetting something. 7pm sound good? Although if it's easier for people to head there straight after work we can bring it forward.

I'm OK with this date time and wonder how we can get this thread posted up front on page 1 like the Auck meet up as there is a danger we'll all forget!!??

I've been missing in action from Sharetrader for a while, but will try & make it, these have always been interesting in the past.

Liz, Lakeys, Mothership?

I'd be very interested in coming. I'm still fairly new myself to DIY trading. Thanks for the invite. I think that date suits me. I have not taken much interest in sharetrader so far this year. I came second in my picks on ASX picks last year. BUt this was a fluke and decided not to put anything in this year.

The Malthouse gets crowded - how is anyone coming through the door going to recognise this group of ST's?

Captain Dan - what will you be wearing? A stand-out costume would help. Or perhaps let us know a flag or sign that you can take along.

I'll have a chat with the guys at The Malthouse and see if we can get an area reserved and a sign put up. From looking at this thread I count around 12-15 people are keen so unless anyone has changed their mind, I'll be working off that number.

What standard of clothes do I have to wear to the malt house.
Currently have been walking around wearing just my jandels and undies(so hot) will this do.

Whether or not that works as a conversation starter may depend on your BMI...

(Print boxers rather than white Y-fronts might also assist?)

Is it still the 27th of February at 7.00pm?

Please advise.

Hi Captain. I have to tender my apologies. I have double booked with a school board meeting.

I was actually at the malthouse last Friday and I think you should be ok with a shirt and a pair of jeans as male. Just make sure your feet are covered and all will be well. Just for those that may not know.... I still thought the Malthouse was on Willis street and had directed my American friend (just in Wellington for a week) there only to get a horrible shock when I noticed it was gone. Anyway for those not in the know... it has re positioned to Courtenay place!

Hi everyone,

So this has been confirmed. The Malthouse will reserve an area for us and hopefully there will be a sign so we'll be easy to spot. Looking forward to meeting some people on Thursday!

Hi Dan,

Thanks for organising this meet last night. Was great to meet you all and so many new faces - good turnout (must be a bull market)! Also great catching up with the old faces from previous meets, especially blackcap, Fred, Toulouse-Luzern. :t_up:

Just thinking today that there were a few "full-timers/unemployed/retired/however-you-want-to-call-it" at the meet. If anyone is interested in joining a fortnightly or monthly "office water-cooler" session for morning coffee, please PM me. Thanks. :)

Yes thanks for organising Dan, now I no longer feel like such a lurker and more one of the crew. Good to see your faces last night, coffee sesssion sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for the organisation Captain Dan. It wouldn't have happened without someone taking the initiative. Good to meet and share ideas with people in the share game.

I took lots of ideas from people there. I also took strength from others struggling with decisions. Sort of like an experiment in conversational ethics. It worked well. Thanks for getting us together like that.
