There used to be a tech stock thread but as I understand it was deleted along with it’s originator;

Clearly XRO dragged the NZX SciTech sector down along with it creating some quite appetising value amongst one or two stocks which are rather undervalued and looking unnecessarily beaten up about here.

At some point the companies with sound fundamentals will peel off and leave XRO to go its merry way and the funds will step in and claim the value, there’s some evidence of this occurring over the last few weeks.

FA’s only please, if there’s any left – which stocks are showing the best value ?

Is that what happened to that thread - it got deleted with Sparky deleted his account.

What an Ar$ehole (I like the guy but) as I have posted lots of good links on valuing tech companies, as had he. I wont be able to find them now in the quagmire of the internet.

FA is hard for tech comapanies as you have to predict their growth. High growth is extremely hard to maintain.

XRO - But having said that, XRO could have a second wind as it starts to wind up in the US market.
GEO - a dead duck unless they get their prices up (to the advertised rate)
SLI - haven't heard much
WYN - seems to be doing well and is holding up OK but has been caught by the tech co rerating.
DIL - hopefully they will maintain their high growth now the distraction has been removed.
VML - hard to tell. they have had some good sales recently but they are still really small.
SNK - if it wasn't for those darn large shareholders, it could be doing ok
CNU - if it wasn't for the comcom so they could charge what they want, they would be huge (hence the need for the comcom - balancing act needed).
SKO - to early to tell but they seem strong
GTK - Big lumpy sales so ensuring their customers renew and not change to SAP is the key.

Should FIN and SDL be included?Those are just the ones I either own, or follow to varying degrees.

I missed of PEB from my follow list.

I am starting to regret my recent interest in tech stocks. They have been forming a larger and larger part of my portfolio (historically lots of infrastructure) as I find them more interesting.

I also hold some unlisted tech type stocks through PowerHouse and Punakaiki.

Of the SciTech stocks I do research, wish I had time for more, I’ve the following with upside;

ATM FY14 $1.09 (+60%)
CVT HY15 $4.95 (+27%)
DIL HY14 $5.80 (+41%)
PEB – Also good upside, but awaiting wine, nibbles and FA tit bits at the AGM.

And, then there’s XRO HY15 $15.75 (-36%)

I do like Clare Capital’s work on XRO actually, and for being bold and brave enough to openly publish: http://img.scoop.co.nz/media/pdfs/1310/Clare_Capital__Xero_Thoughts_20131003.pdf

BPF has taken off today after being a sleeper for me up re 30% today. Been overlooked as the presentation shows one the undervaluation.

There must be something wrong. This is a tech company that makes a profit! Very Strange.;)

Take a look at PEH on the ASX if you're into that kinda thing. Small cap with huge potential - scalable, environmental tech. I've been in since 8.3c so am sitting alright for the moment. The next jump is only a matter of time.

Edit... scratch that, you're already in it :-S
Aren't we doing well ;)
