About Left field
Biography:
Purchased Metastock way back in May 1987, it helped me predict the Oct 1987 crash so I cashed up about 15 days before the crash.
Returned to share investing in 2013, since then I've been a fan of both value and trend investing. My key learning: Make the trend your friend, and quit your losses early.

2014 stock picking comp.
Placed 4th equal with 99.76% return. [XRO(339.46) PEB(108.24) RYM(66.79) BLT(-4.55) PGW(-11.15)]

2015 Stock Picking competition, placed 18th (shared with Xerof) with 54.24% return. XRO +22.6% SUM +47.3% PEB -38.8% ATM +220.7%, AIR +19.4%.

2016 Stock Picking Competition
Placed 195th with a -25.7% return largely due to picking WYN which went bust during the year. Fortunately 2016 was the best year yet for my personal portfolio (which did not include WYN).

2017 Stock Picking Comp
Finished 37th (out of over 200 entries) with a 72.8% return.

2018 Stock Picking Comp
52nd with a 5.9% return. Tough year as the market entered Bear territory.

Since 2013 my personal portfolio has averaged an annual return of over 90% pa thanks largely to a 60% holding in ATM.
