Not much little old Sky can do to counter those sort of massive global deals unfortunately.

Coming soon, Spider Man #953674, the much awaited sequel to Spider Man #953673

not entirely happy with how some Netflix video starts the expiry time countdown soon as you started watching, must have something to do with copy right, so that Netflix saves money by having as few people watching simultaneously as possible
Can feel a bit like that sometimes. But the reality is that Sony is one of the few major studios and will be another sizeable hole in sky's movie offerings, having already lost access to Disney & Fox titles (to Disney+ exclusivity).
Unsure when this deal will impact Sky, but major film suppliers after that remaining for Sky would be: Universal, Paramount & Warner Brothers. Of those three Warner Brothers & Paramount both have intentions of direct to consumer offerings internationally (through HBOMax & Paramount+ respectively).
Sky is bleeding content but it is a long way from being declared dead.
The market will never be 100% direct to consumer, there will always be media aggregators.
However, if Sky does get bought out by a major, it will then become direct to consumer.
It's a question of weather Sky can hold it's value (in terms of it's platform and customer reach) and not implode before a buy out happens. With a clean balance sheet, it should get there. Unlike Foxtel in Australia, which is in danger of imploding and becoming recapitalised.

Your boy Leo was going to pay US$2B for majority control of Foxtel.
For a quarter of that he could take 100% ownership of Sky Network Television and RugbyPass.
Did you contact him and let him know you have packaged Sky TV up for him all ready to go?

I don't like the reliance on a service like NEON which is pretty much 100% reliant on international content deals that could disappear at the expiry of current deals. Perhaps wouldn't be the craziest idea for Sky to partner with a proven local production company to create some new exclusive local content for its platform, be it scripted content or "reality show" content (as much as I personally dislike those, they are huge draws for TVNZ & TV3).
