A very sad day indeed - Brian Gaynor's articles were a "must read". The investment community is significantly poorer for his passing.

Very sad news. Brian was a fascinating market commentator and built Milford into a true powerhouse. My condolences to his family & friends.

A truly great New Zealander and a wise and brilliant analyst. I'm sure many will have kept all his investment articles over the years in their personal folders. Very Sad day indeed

That's very sad news. I was with Milford and in their active growth kiwisaver almost from inception - he was a great person to have in your corner, the fees were well worth it for someone like me who struggles with investing and I had many years of good returns with him at the helm. He deserved a long and happy retirement I'm so sorry for him and his family that it wasn't to be. A real loss of a great Irish kiwi.

Holly He!! how will we live without his truthful in depth research, his was second to none and will leave a very deep void, I met him in the early 80's , his wit, research and love for soccer left a big mark, he had a particular hate for people who he perceived were there only for themselves ( spives ! )

RIP Brian. Condolences to the family. A softly spoken gentleman but made his point very clear. I remember Brian Gaynor and Bruce Sheppard at the AGM of a...not going to name the company....over 20 years ago and they gave the CEO a good bollocking for giving themselves a pay rise when the company made a great big loss and it put a smile on my face. Thank you for standing up for us smaller shareholders.

I can't believe this. One of the few market commentators who could be relied upon to cut through the corporate spin doctors, has himself 'spun out', and far too early. I knew he had stepped back from day to day executive responsibilities at Milford Asset management in 2019. But somehow I imagined that his wise counsel was still there in the background, available to those who had 'stood on his shoulders' and continued to build Milford into what it is today.

Condolences to his wife and surviving son. So long Brian, thanks for your contribution, and rest in peace.

For some reason, I remember this article that Brian wrote back in 2017, especially the part comparing MPG with Scales. His insights and words of wisdom will be missed, condolences to his family.

Ruined my day to learn this.
Last week it was Dennis Waterman.

An incredible analysts.
A brilliant communicator.
Did so much for NZ investors.
A great New Zealander whose death will leave a big hole in the investment community.

And Bruce Russel. As far as I can determine all 3 were aged 73.

RIP, his integrity will be missed

It may prove to be that the establishment of the Milford Foundation charity, with all costs/overhead met by Milford Asset Management, will be his greatest historical legacy. This is a charity with ambition, still in its early growth phase but already making a mark!
