Cinema will never die

I hope it doesn't but i see more and more people on their cellphones during a movie which can kill the "involvement, reality ' experience. Someone i know actually grabbed a phone and through it down the aisle.:t_up:
"Cinema's survival comes down to the simple fact that people continue to delight in the participatory nature of collective events."
VGL has certainly had a good run of late. Is it in the NZX 50 index?
Big contract in Japan announced yesterday. That explains the rise during last week... for those lucky people who can see into the future, I guess.
Hmm. A not unusual occurrence, but it's a well-regulated market! ;)

Sounds promising.
Cocorico! Vista signs with France's first cinema operator, Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont. https://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...mas-Path%C3%A9
yeh a couple of good announcements esp the latter but I couldnt see any mention of figures on this deal. One would assume its chunky as , going on the size of the client , but may not be, in fact.
What great story this has been and i and many others missed it. 84.62% said they wouldn't be in the IPO in the poll . Listed about $1.25. Share split 2 for 1 when s/p @ $5.40.Current price $3.61..Close to 6 bagger ?in re 3 years!!!Congrats to holders.
Actually it listed about $2.50 nearer to 4 years ago than 3.
First day was 11-Aug-14, range was $2.39 to $2.55 with the close at $2.55.
I quit at $6.1X in Jun-16.
The positive news continues.....

Will we see $4 tomorrow?
"Return of cinemas to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after a 35-year ban... (Predicting) to open 600 screens across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the next five years." That's going to be a booming market, glad that Vista is in it from the start.
I agree totally Jt.Well done management!A exceptional international company that has really found its niche, creating an ever expanding moat.Ticks a lot of boxes,in the cloud and no borrowings.A lot of other tech companies could learn a lot from this.
Convinced me to buy in again a while ago
did the cheque arrive in the mail yet?
(I recall there was a significant deferred payment from a Chinese company )
No it didn't from what I recall but that is OK as didn't VGL reverse the transaction?

thanks for that link
so it looks like they sold some of the business and then bought it back a year later for the same price after it had doubled its revenue (without ever receiving the money)
Seems ok.
I do like the way this company grows and keeps growing. Globally the movie industry is not growing much overall but its still pretty huge and growing in some places, so that's not too much of a headwind until VGI become much larger. And in anycase they are selling the spades, not digging the gold.
I put some people into this company a year or so ago, but don't have any myself. I may remedy that at some stage. Back the winners huh.
