Presenter: Imre Speizer – Senior Markets Strategist, Westpac

Topic: Insight into life as a market strategist

Imre will give an insight into life as a market strategist. He will describe the role, and provide some detail on the tools used to formulate market forecasts and trading recommendations. Economic fundamentals, positioning, quantitative models and technical analysis will be covered.

Imre joined Westpac in 2008, and specialises in researching New Zealand’s currency and interest rate markets. Working closely with Westpac’s economists and traders, as well as strategy colleagues globally, he delivers regular market analysis and forecasts.

Prior to joining Westpac, Imre traded currencies, interest rates, and credit products in Hong Kong, Singapore and London for Swiss Bank/UBS and Bank of America.

Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Systems from the University of Otago, a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the University of Canterbury, as well as further graduate studies in Economics and Finance.
