“The wonderful part about the OEM part of our business is that it's a low cost of sales. Once you've won that design win with a Quantum or a Gaming Partners International or a Veritone, they have hundreds or thousands of customers and frankly they have a very large sales force, you know, feet on the street. You have to go through an integration process, where we introduce Brainchip's skill for example that was an off the shelf end user solution in order to make it appropriate for OEM so we had to add the APIs or the application specific interfaces. So there's a little bit of incremental engineering expense once that's a sunk cost, you have a very low cost of sales”.

An article about Lockport school which is installing security cameras using Brainchip technology – the first school district in the world with this technology. Some opposition to it because of privacy concerns, see links below.

    https://buffalonews.com/2018/05/20/l...f-up-security/
“Next school year, Lockport schools will have in place the kind of security software used at airports, casinos and sensitive government installations.
Facial recognition and tracking software will add an unprecedented level of security at the schools. District officials have decided locked entrance doors, bullet-proof glass and sign-in registers at the front desk are not enough.
"Lockport will be the first school district in the world with this technology deployed," said Tony Olivo, an Orchard Park security consultant who helped develop the system.
The software is used by "Scotland Yard, Interpol, the Paris police and the French Ministry of Defense," Olivo said. "There are a lot of facial recognition systems out there. There is nothing in the world that can do what this technology does."
Lockport will spend $1.4 million of the state's money on the Aegis system, from SN Technologies of Ganonoque, Ont., in all 10 district buildings this summer. It's part of a $2.75 million security system that includes 300 digital video cameras”

The sentiment for Brainchip has been more positive in the last few weeks, and the price was up to 17c at open today - up 2c 13.3%. It hit a low of 11c with end of financial year tax loss selling in June but has been creeping slowly up since then, although on small volumes. Volume picked up to $0.5m yesterday and today with their announcement re Akida. Quarterly results at the end of the month are eagerly awaited hopefully with more revenue than last quarter which was $500K.

    https://ir.brainchipinc.com/asx-announcements
24 July, 2018: BrainChip Holdings Ltd., the leading neuromorphic computing company, today announced the availability of the AkidaTM Development Environment. The Akida Development Environment is a machine learning framework for the creation, training, and testing of spiking neural networks (SNNs), supporting the development of systems for edge and enterprise products on the Company’s Akida Neuromorphic System-on-Chip (NSoC).

Akida is the flagship product in BrainChip’s mission to become the leading neuromorphic computing company that solves complex problems to make worldwide industry more productive and improve the human condition.

Link to the transcript of webinar on 1 August 2018. Brainchip webinar
Accompanying slides are on June 2018 Quarterly Update Presentation -https://ir.brainchipinc.com/asx-announcements

Lots happening with Brainchip – leads, discussions, trials, just hasn't turned into revenue yet, but more revenue expected in second half of 2018.

June 2018 Quarter Update. Lou DiNardo CEO

"If we look at Studio and Accelerator, the automotive developments that we're working on continue with multiple multinational companies. These are these not small job shops. We're talking about multi-billion dollar companies both in the US and in Europe.

A lot of the engagement is for autonomous vehicle development or advanced driver assisted systems. So those are moving quite nicely. The end game in automotive will certainly be Akida, it won't be BrainChip Studio, but BrainChip Studio lets them really try things out, get to understand the technology. In the case of one European automobile manufacturer, the Akida kernel has been in their hands for a couple months now. They're learning a lot sharing with us and we're learning a lot. It's helping us hone the Akida definition to make sure that we have all the features and hooks and benefits the automotive manufacturers will need.

Gaming Products International, that joint development is going quite well. It's on schedule, it was well received by customers.
Most of the major cell phone manufacturers, think about Apple, Samsung, Huawei, all of them do some in-house development of their own chips or they use outside resources to develop custom chips. They would like to put IP such as Akida into one of their custom chips. So we have early discussions going on with a major cell phone manufacturer.
In Fintech we've got an initial dialogue. I think it's moving along nicely. I think we're coming to some common ground on what we think we could accomplish in Fintech and it's a solid team.

Just a quick outlook, we do expect continued growth. We've harvested over 500 leads, we've got 55 well qualified opportunities and another 100 that we're combing through. 16 design wins with significant first year value. We're currently supporting about 30 committed or active trials most which are under non-disclosure agreements. So we can't talk about names of companies, we could talk generally, about we have a cell phone engagement or have a good dialogue.

The sales pipeline is robust. It's getting bigger and bigger every day. As I mentioned I think on the last call, we're now in Police Departments up and down the East Coast of the United States, some on the West Coast, a little bit in the middle of the country. We're well outside of just being in France now. Luis Coello has brought us into Scandinavia, he's brought us into Spain. He's brought us throughout Europe, the UK is very prominent in his qualified opportunities database. So the outlook again, growth throughout the second half of the year based on what we see in qualified opportunities turning into design wins, and design wins turning into revenue. Final slide is just to remind everybody that we are addressing a multi-billion dollar market. This is something over $6 billion of served available market.

I think I mentioned on our last call that literally the day after the quantum announcement went out we had an inbound from one of the top five storage manufacturers in the world. Top five are HP, IBM, Dell, EMC, Hitachi, I don't know if I said five, but that's the top category. So we're having great meetings with one of those top five, they visited our place a number of times. We visited their place a number of times, and we're looking at specific use cases across a wide set of opportunities there.”

Time to resurrect the Brainchip thread.
Shares up 30.8% today from 13 cents to 17 cents, wafer fabrication complete, NASA is interested and probably also being pushed up because they need to do another capital raise. Lots of excitement on Hot Copper.

Finally on 2 July 2020 the actual Brainchip wafer fabrication (Akida NSoC) was completed on schedule.
    • BrainChip moving to assembly and test of the Akida NSoC
    • Evaluation boards for Early Access Program are in fabrication
In conjunction with Socionext and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) wafer
fabrication of the Akida device has been completed as planned and the Company is moving to
complete assembly and test operations. The primary use of the initial devices will be internal
evaluation and support of those customers that have signed agreements for the Early Access
    Program.

On 8 June 2020 BrainChip Signed a Joint Development Agreement utilizing BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic SoC with Valeo Corporation, a Tier-1 European automotive supplier of sensors and systems for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Vehicles (AV).

On 24 May 2020 BrainChip Announced Agreement With Tier-1 Automotive Manufacturer to evaluate the AkidaTM Neural Processor. The evaluation agreement, which was binding on execution, has been entered into with The Ford Motor Company and is not the subject of a fixed term. The agreement is based upon a collaboration to evaluate Akida as it pertains to the automotive industry with payments under the agreement intended to cover associated expenses and received periodically during the evaluation process.
The engagement is considered by BRN to be a significant in the ongoing development of the Akida product.

27 May 2020 Peter Van Der Made at AGM - I have spent the past 16 years envisioning the Akida technology and we are almost there; Akida is in wafer fabrication and we have many example applications to serve our customer needs.

15 April 2020 Company places 103.96M Fully Paid Ordinary Shares and Raises A$3.12M in Gross Proceeds at AUD 0.03000.

Cash Balance as of 31 March 2020 US$3.7M

Well the hockey stick is happening... 3 years late but it’s here none the less!

Chairman’s address at AGM - Truth is, start-ups go through ups and downs, particularly in our case where we are introducing ground breaking, highly differentiated AI technology in a relatively nascent market where even some of our potential customers are themselves still evaluating how to best approach this huge emerging market.

CEOs address - The Artificial Intelligence Market is very complex. Most of the headlines you see relate to AI in the cloud or datacenter. These are not our markets, and frankly it takes hundreds of millions of dollars to address this segment of the market. This segment is also extremely competitive and includes the giants of industry; such as Intel, IBM, Nvidia and many others. We understand our strengths as a solution for AI at the Edge.

We present potential customers with a new architecture that is small, ultra-low power and includes incremental learning in Edge applications for cameras, automotive sensors and smart sensors of all types.

I would like to emphasize that our Akida technology provides functionality that does not currently exist. This technology provides on-chip, at the Edge incremental learning. All architectures today, whether local, in the cloud or in a data center require the entire network to be retrained if new classifiers are added. For example, a new object or a new word.

Akida working with a vast array of sensors can see, smell, taste or hear and process all thatinformation at the edge.

The AkidaIP or Device runs the entire neural network. This is foreign to customers. Typically, the network is run on a host CPU, requires external memory and more recently, for Edge applications, a dedicated accelerator chip. Our IP or Device does not require any of these power-consuming extra components.

Our neural processor chip is much simpler to use, more cost effective and saves power compared to traditional networks, particularly for Edge devices. Our strength is that we run Artificial Intelligence very efficiently. The Akida technology is unique in that the entire network runs within the neural fabric, which allows users to dedicate their CPU to data processing, which is their strength.
