    A roll call of the Republicans who voted :

    1. To impeach Bill Clinton for lying about a blowjob but

    2. Acquitted Fornicator Trump of inciting a deadly insurrection where 5 people died.

    No wonder the US is in such an almighty mess with that sort of hypocrisy.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
    Republican senators who voted to convict Clinton, but acquit Trump:
    Idaho's Mike Crapo, Iowa's Chuck Grassley, Oklahoma's James Inhofe, and Kentucky's Mitch McConnell
    Republican senators who supported Clinton's impeachment while in the House, and who voted to acquit Trump:
    Missouri's Roy Blunt, South Carolina's Lindsey Graham, Kansas' Jerry Moran, Ohio's Rob Portman, South Dakota's John Thune, Mississippi's Roger Wicker
    Unbelievable, appalling treatment for casting a vote in line with your conscience:
    'A free and fair election in the republican party' not likely.
    Best thing is for the US to break up.
    Then the rest of the world can get on with making real peace.
    I expect now the Republican Party will be purged of moderates and those who do not support Trump and his xenophobic populism. The same happened with the UK Conservative Party and those who did not support the Xenophobic Hard Brexit and Johnson. There seems little desire to welcome pluralist opinions in these erstwhile broad Parties of the centre-right.
    It is not just Trump exploiting this human weakness, but lets face it - many religions used to exploit this human trait since old ages (well, all but the one you happen to believe in), extreme right (Hitler & Co) as well as extreme left (Stalin, Mao and their modern successors) governments are exploiting this trait. Hitler's PR man (Goebels) said once: No matter how big a lie is, if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it. Goebbels (as well as his boss Hitler) was a criminal, but he was not stupid.
    Now - I don't think that Trump is particularly clever (otherwise he would not have lost the elections), but I would neither use the fact he keeps repeating his lies as evidence that he is stupid. He is doing what many other strongman in history did - trying to create his own reality and relying that he finds enough people dumb enough to believe him, no matter what the facts. While all of these preachers / strongman have been evil, some (maybe even most) of them have been as well quite smart. Only their supporters are either dumb or they are like-minded crooks who are just exploiting this human trait for their own benefits. Many careers have been build on supporting crooks.
    Trump is a pathological liar. A pathological liar tells lies and stories that fall somewhere between conscious lying and delusion. They sometimes believe their own lies. Some do it so often that experts believe they may not know the difference between fact and fiction after some time. Pathological liars also tend to be natural performers. I think Trump actually believes a lot of his own lies.
    There is no hope for anyone who believes their own lies, they are often described as deluded, and many people, myself included, think of them as stupid.
    Interesting ... I guess the issue here might be how do we define "stupid". Dr. Google offers: "having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense". Intelligence is "the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills", and common sense is "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts".
    Which of above applies to Trump? Well, I guess it really depends on whether he is dumb enough to believe into his own lies or whether he is clever enough to build up and maintain his lies because he knows that his followers are dumb enough to believe them.
    Whatever it is - frightening that 75 Million Americans didn't had enough common sense to look through his lies, which is unfortunately clear evidence that common sense is not that common at all.
    Real reason why 500,000 Americans have died from the 'Kung Flu' so far?
    So that the Fornicator could win the election* - never mind the deaths or the suffering.
    And there are posters here who actually believe the Fornicator!
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/cov...XSVR36S5LWJS4/
    Dr Anthony Fauci has issued a blistering attack on former United States President Donald Trump's handling of coronavirus, accusing him of allowing "terrible" things to happen in the hopes of being re-elected.
    Fauci, who is the head of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and has been the chief medical adviser to seven American Presidents, has detailed his time working with Trump in an interview with British newspaper the Telegraph.
    During the early days of the pandemic Trump had been receptive to Fauci's advice on how to best tackle it.
    But after it became apparent that lockdown and social-distancing measures would need to continue for the foreseeable future, hampering Trump's re-election campaign in the process, he became openly combative with Fauci.
    * Which he lost anyway.
    Bill Clinton - you seem obsessed with him?
    Did he contribute to 500,000 Americans dying from his incompetence, lies and misdeeds?
    Says a lot, doesn’t it, whatsup, that there are actually people on this earth who think that :
    - Clinton lying over getting a blowjob is a greater crime than
    - the Fornicator causing 500k deaths & causing a deadly insurrection because he refused to accept reality of being a LOSER!
    What does that say about such people's moral bearings?
    What an irony coming from a staunch Trump supporter ... :
    You would not know a lie of you fall about it - and you delivered already the evidence for this inability.
