listening to that album the guy reminds me of acoustic Lou Reed. i.e out of tune lol, but in an acceptable way. casual and vernacular, an eye for a lick, a bit depressing haha

Sad day for music with the passing of Roxette lead singer Marie Fredriksson aged 61 after a 17 yr battle with cancer, what a beautiful artist and individual.

bye the bye i bought a std 15 leyland van in welly along time ago.Previous owner was the manager of Rough Justice and they travelled around to gigs in it. The good time rock theatre in vivian st was one of their venues.

I think Arthur wrote this powerful song sung by Rick and backed by the Windy City Strugglers. Especially moving for anyone with a friend or loved one or family member with a terminal disease

On a happier note its Tom Waits birthday and National Babylon have a whole programme on him.

From jazzy smoky room piano ballad classic albums like Closing time and Blue Valentine and other consistent quality albums, it all changed style drastically with Sword Fish trombones then Rain Dogs and on. I love this weirder later stuff too and am having trouble describing it atm. Have a bunch of his albums including the triple album Orphans with the 3 cd's titled Bawlers Brawlers and Bastards. An essential artist in my collection. some of The song picks on here are not what i would have selected but it gives you a bit of an idea. his oldest song is played last!!Nashville Babylon 9 December, 2019

My daughter introduced me to Lana Del Ray a few years back. I agreed to her first overseas trip to see lana del ray in melbourne without any adults around , a coming of age thing which can be tricky to time right.

Lanas albums are all great imo. her latest "Norman ****ing Rockwell" may be her best yet, rave reviews everywhere including gordon campbell

Gordon Campbell on the best music of 2019

She's got alot to say about trumps america.
Check out Gordons other best of's too , Gary Clark's guitar playing for one!

Not only one of the great drummers/percussionists, but also a great lyricist, writer, traveler and bike enthusiast

That comment reminded me of singer Tom Waits, whose voice was once described as ....
a distinctive deep gravelly voice, sounding as though "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car"

Lol thats a great description. I had something simpler like his voice being the sound the tyres make when a drunk is driving fast and slow on a windy loose metal road
