    Default Croplogic - IPO

Apparently Croplogic are looking to list soon.

Jaime Cairns is their CEO and did a great job with Snap internet and is certainly pretty capable.

Thanks NBT. Am i right thinking no moat with this business i.e. relatively easy for others to compete; but i just had a quick graze.

They'd only be effective at competing if they had the scientific models to work with, those are the proprietary bit. This will have come out of university research, but I guess a Monsanto type company could have similar models.

They have over 30 years of proprietary research and still haven't been able to commercialise it, so I'd call that a pretty big moat.

Always wary of statements about 30 years of research, what does that actually mean? I've been writing a book for 20 years, doesn't mean it's any good. However, these guys look to be the real deal, and I'm sure they have a great algorithm but they need to have the sensors and infrastructure to implement their software, and that's a challenge. Hope they don't go for a listing without getting that nailed.

I honestly dont get this..... are they savvy in their approach or am I missing anything....

After hearing all of the media who ha I was expecting a tech company that was kicking arse and taking names....

Instead, we have a rev of A$125k (which decreased between 14/15 and 16/17), a loss of $1.3 and theyve purchased a consulting firm doing in the USA doing $2M on essentially flat cashflow. The CEO is paid close to double what the original revenue is......

I feel the US purchase is just to tidy up the balance sheet and this is not a world leader, there are dozens of companies doing agronomy using big data. I cant see how P&F are very special....

Now I see they got over their $5M minimum in a flash, what gives.....?

RIP Croplogic. In receivership, a long agonising death. Totally went off the rails with their hemp venture. I invested in 6 crowdfunding ventures in 2015-16, and this is the third one that has gone down the drain.

Powerhouse, omg, don’t get me started. PVL may get brought out by the Chinese for access to uni IP, I also occasionally play lotto, same odds
