    Mark Lister
    Mark is Head of Research for Craigs Investment Partners Private Wealth division. His team is responsible for all of the asset allocation, strategy and portfolio recommendation decisions for Craigs clients.

    Mark spoke last year and was one of the highlights. This is a great chance to get Mark's view on the state of the market and on particular stocks. He is not shy on giving an opinion. Last year he allocated a lot of time for questions.

    Greg Shanahan
    Greg Shanahan is Managing Director and co-founder of Veriphi Ltd. Veriphi is a private New Zealand company that is developing a revolutionary solution for low cost in-line analysis of fluids using lasers. Its first target market is the verification of intravenous drugs to prevent medication errors.

    Greg is also founder of the Technology Investment Network (TIN). TIN annually publishes the TIN100 Report, an authoritative benchmarking report on New Zealand’s 200 largest globally-focused technology businesses. TheTIN100 Report has become a critical reference tool for government and industry decision makers in supporting the growth of NZ’s technology export sector.

    Prior to establishing TIN in 1999, Greg worked for 10 years at Fisher and Paykel Appliances in marketing and operational roles, in New Zealand and the United States

    Joan Withers - Discussing Corporate Governance
    Joan Withers was appointed a Director of Mercury in August 2009 and Chair of the Board in October 2009. She is Chair of the Warehouse Group, a Director of ANZ Bank New Zealand and a trustee of the Louise Perkins Foundation (Sweet Louise). Joan has more than 20 years' experience at a senior executive level in the New Zealand media industry, including serving as Chief Executive Officer of Fairfax New Zealand and The Radio Network of New Zealand.


    Phil Gibson - Mercury
    Phil is responsible for managing hydro operations, wholesale market activities and sales to large commercial and industrial customers. Phil joined us in 2004 and has held a number of roles across the business including Wholesale Markets Manager, and Head of Technology & Innovation in Consumer Markets. Prior to joining the electricity industry, Phil spent six years in structural engineering roles in Auckland, Wellington and London.

    Ralph Highnam: CEO, Volpara Health Technologies
    With an extensive career in Medical imaging technologies, Dr Highnam established Volpara Health Technologies (ASX: VHT) in 2009 with 3 colleagues and global specialists in breast imaging. Volpara is a digital health company providing breast imaging analytics and analysis products that are focused on early detection of breast cancer by improving the quality of screening using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Volpara is a research, development, and manufacturing company based in Wellington.

    Bernard Doyle : Head of JBWere Investment Strategy Group
    Bernard oversees NZ equity strategy and global tactical asset allocation for JBWere’s private and institutional clients, as well as also heading JBWere’s Investment Strategy Group. Often quoted in the media – Bernard is recognised as a financial markets authority in NZ. Before joining JBWere, Bernard was the NZ equity strategist for Goldman Sachs and holds an Honours degree in Economics from Victoria University.

    Michael Boggs : CEO, NZME
    Michael was appointed CEO in March 2016, prior to that he held the CFO position. He has been integral in developing the strategy to grow NZME’s presence in New Zealand particularly in the areas of digital, video and events whilst upholding the company’s traditional brands including The New Zealand Herald and Newstalk ZB.

    Nick has been with Devon Funds Management since early in 2010 and is the portfolio manager for Dividend Yield Fund, Alpha Fund and the Diversified Income Fund. Prior to joining Devon, Nick was an analyst at NZ Funds Management Limited and assisted with portfolio construction and trading. Nick’s advantage lies in his broad understanding of Trans-Tasman investment opportunities, having covered a wide range of stocks and sectors during his 13 years in the industry.


    Ross Taylor : CEO, Fletcher Building
    Ross Taylor joined Fletcher Building as CEO on 22 November 2017. Previously, Ross was CEO of UGL, an international engineering, services, construction and product manufacturing business, operating across the rail, transport and technology systems, power, resources, water and defence sectors, and headquartered in Australia. Prior to this he was managing director and CEO of Tenix, a privately held engineering and construction services company and held senior leadership roles at Lendlease across a 23-year period. Ross holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland.

    Craig is an internationally

    Alan Pearson : CEO, TIL Logistics Group
    Alan Pearson commenced as Group Chief Executive Officer in March 2018. Alan has over 35 years commercial experience in both public and private companies, including ten years as Managing Director of Hall’s Group Limited, one of New Zealand’s largest Transport & Logistics companies. Prior to Hall’s Alan spent 13 years with Fletcher Building / Fletcher Challenge, with the last ten years as General Manager of the Pacific Steel Group. He has also worked for Tasman Pulp & Paper, Amcor Fibre Packaging, Smorgon Glass & Plastics and Alcan Aluminium in various accounting and leadership roles. Alan is a Fellow of the Australian Society of CPA’s (1984), and member of the Institute of Directors NZ (2011).


    Frances Sweetman : Senior Analyst, Milford Asset Management
    Frances joined Milford in early 2017 focused on New Zealand equities. Prior to joining Milford, Frances was at Craigs Investment Partners, responsible for the New Zealand and Australian exposures of the Private Wealth division, at Brook Asset Management focused on the property, finance and telecommunications sectors and at Macquarie Bank in Sydney, covering the property sector. She holds an MSc in Estate Management from South Bank University, a BA(Hons) in Economics and Business Management from Newcastle University and is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

    Glen Sowry : CEO, Metlifecare
    Prior to joining Metlifecare in April 2016, Glen was Chief Executive Officer of Housing New Zealand with 67,000 properties across the country valued at more $22 billion. Before joining Housing New Zealand at the beginning of 2013, Glen held a number of senior roles at Air New Zealand over a 10 year period, initially as Head of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, then running the domestic and short haul international airlines.


    James Spence: Director Investment Management, Goodman Property Trust
    James is responsible for overseeing the investment decisions of GMT and heading up the property team. He joined the Group in 2006 and held various roles within the New Zealand business before moving to Europe with Goodman in 2011. During his time in Europe, James was responsible for managing Goodman wholesale funds and leading its capital transaction programme.


    Paul Adams: CEO, Everedge
    Everedge specialise in intangible asset and intellectual property strategy, out-sourced intellectual property management, intangible asset monetization, technology commercialization and intellectual property licensing.

    I'm writing to give you an update for the Branch Meeting on Wednesday, 20th November, 2019, which will take place from 7.30pm at the Alexandra Park Convention Centre (tea and coffee served from 7pm, and please note there will be the usual $5 cover charge). In order to ensure that we're not disturbed by music from other gatherings, we are using the "Top of the Park" room on the 5th floor.

    We will be continuing to selectively video speakers and then posting these to the NZSA website, so that other members may also enjoy our speakers' presentations.

    As this is the last Branch meeting for 2019 we invite our members to join the committee for a complimentary drink after the proceedings.

    Tim Brown specialises in financial structuring and has been responsible for the funding of both Infratil and a number of investee companies. Tim is Chair of Wellington Airport.

    Kimbal Riley : CEO, Vista International Group
    Kimbal was appointed Group CEO in April 2018 after joining Vista as Chief Operating Officer in November 2013. Formerly, he was COO of Orion Health, New Zealand’s largest software exporter with operations on every continent and customers in over 50 countries. Kimbal was with Orion Health for seven years, during which period the company grew from 120 people to over 700 and turnover increased from $20m to in excess of $100m.

    Brian Watson : CEO, Blis Technologies (maker of Probiotics)
    Brian was appointed CEO of Blis Technologies in February 2016. He joined Blis following senior management roles with Fonterra and within the Pharmaceutical industry in New Zealand and overseas. Brian’s career has focused on general management, marketing and sales across healthcare, nutraceutical and nutrition industries. Brian has a track record of successfully launching global brands into new markets and leading change within organisations.
