Lightbulb Where to from here? - The fully priced Trump bull outlook for the NZX.

    Hi all,

Anyone else a little confused as to where we're headed?

On one hand we have a 'fully priced' market which has been cranking for some time now, with sentiment that we're due for a decent correction (minimum). Things could crash tomorrow.

On the other hand, we have an economy that seems to be ticking along nicely and Trump tweeting policy ideas that the markets seem to love, with reasonable earnings for respectable companies. This could still go for years.

So where are we heading? Anyone brave enough to cast their predictions and thoughts or share some historical analysis?

    Cheers,

    NetBeforeTax.

I think Diana has the NZX covered in fewer words and far less time:

Trump is very confused......has nil idea at all about international economics and how we are all tied in.

worse still he is very conflicted.

On one hand he wants a stronger USD...but to get that he has to raise interest rates. On the other he has billions of borrowed money so try and work that out.

It will drive the idiot crazy and thats probably the best solution. Asben Hall for him...in winter.

Against popular opinion I still think the NZX50 has quite a few companies which present good long term value and returns in comparison with international share markets. Many companies are performing well here and we're not as exposed to international affairs as some markets. There's also good yield in NZ. I think we'll have a good year. 2018 will be more interesting when Trumps policies start showing their impacts.
