At 26 tons fully loaded, it has a lot lighter load capacity than most of the logging trucks on our roads. Not that that's bad. I always imagined heavy haulage would go the way of fuel cells, otherwise the batteries would need to be massive. Not only uneconomic to lug around but heavy.

Lighter loads would be better for our roads. I struck up a conversation with a truckie last time I was in Taupo. He casually admitted that the industry had conned the Govt that a reduced number of really heavy trucks was better than a greater number of more lightly loaded trucks. I forget the maximum weights he was talking about but it was north of 50 tons and he reckons those sort of loads are just tearing up our roads. Drive the desert road in central north Island and see the mess they've made.

They reckon its the electric car to beat for the near future. They start from $121K here, significantly less expensive / faster than the forthcoming Jaguar I Pace and arguably a lot better looking.
