"The participants must comply with regulation, according to the ASX, which said its system had nothing to do with blockchain technology deployed by cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin." Source https://www.ft.com/content/c9b86e8e-dae4-11e7-a039-c64b1c09b482

SC -its two different things. Crypt currency and blockchain.

Ill look at buying shares transacted through blockchain technology

I'm not convinced about buying coins based on blockchain technology

    mate...
in a smaller example of this... it is like what email was back in early 1990's.. now its just the way we communicate...who would have thought that postal would get replace by email?.. who would have thought cell phones would replace the home telephone?.. most people I know dont have a home telephone anymore... only older people and businesses still have telephone man..

so weather your email provider was gmail.com or yahoo or xtra or snap or whatever its the same thing ideal...
crypto is mearly the investment vechile for the blockchain... so it is all related man...
so sure the asx is no cryptocurrency but it is using the technology that is making cryptocurrency so valuable...

    do you see man?

I agree with the Mini. Adoption of a technology has little to do with sustainability of something that uses that technology.

Yes I've always thought the blockchain tech sounded a very smart tech ....Satoshi Nakamoto (If he actually does exist did a great job)
But as we see below someone long ago has stolen and taken the patent so no if you own an investment in a Bitcoin you will get diddle swat from the Mega rich Nasdaq >>> 2018 the year the crytpo holders work out its just one big ponzi scheme the RICH CORPs took for free

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded exchange operator Nasdaq a patent for a proposed blockchain-based data matching system.

First filed in February, the patent describes a data transfer and logging system, with a blockchain used to track trades and clearing positions. The patent application was originally published in August and names Sweden-based Johan Toll and Fredrik Sjöblom as the inventors.

According to the text of the patent, transactions within the system occur through a two-step process. Each transaction gets logged in two blocks: one that records the transaction as it comes from the source to the intermediary, and a second as it passes through that intermediary to its destination.

The benefit of the system, the patent's authors state, is that blockchain could serve as a way to boost efficiency in clearing house processes.

"It would thus be desirable to improve the speed and efficiency by which clearing and settlement, or both clearing and settlement processes may be performed in a computerized environment. Accordingly, it will be appreciated that new and improved techniques, systems, and processes in this area of technology are continually sought after," they write.

Nasdaq has filed multiple intellectual property applications relating to blockchain, including a proposed way to back up a blockchain-based exchange system. Indeed, the rate of patent applications related to the tech generally has grown significantly in the past year.

Another sad truth for Bitcoin CME Futures

    https://www.coindesk.com/threat-bitcoin-futures/

But here’s the thing: the money will not be pouring into the bitcoin market. It will be buying synthetic derivatives that don’t directly impact bitcoin at all.

For every $100 million (or whatever) that supermegahedgefundX puts into bitcoin futures, no extra money goes into bitcoin itself. These futures do not require ownership of actual bitcoins, not even on contract maturity.

And now why do you think Wall street really wants to have futures to play with ?? the buying surges these last weeks IMHO looks the wall street boys are buying up big so that they can manipuate the market..... they love doing that

The smart holders will be converting out of BITcoin on the way up >>If I held any (wish I did) I'd be converting into GOLD bullion etc I see a NZ Bullion dealer keen on taking Bitcoins ...

One day there will be a saying "Your've been Bitconned"

I do certainly regret not pursuing Bitcoins back when I first discovered ($200-$400) it and gained a very speculative interest as it was always going be a gamble 1-2k much like going to the TAB Casino ..I always like the blockchain tech and fact the hype would suck in the punters ...which as we see now has become a HUGE BUBBLE ....now I could be completely wrong and 2018 will be like 2017 for the cryptos but I think just like so many BOOMs it will be a much different year once the heat starts to cool>> Govt + other tech should well be the catayst

Bitcoin too risky and volatile for me im thinking. I have a rudimentary understanding. Im more interested in looking to invest in blockchain in listed companies using it. Thnking of the goldrush days where most went bust but the stores selling the picks and shovels did very well with minimal risk. So a list of such companies would be productive and beneficial imo.

I dont know. I never bought shares on the basis of a company having fibre or copper broadband. Seems the same type of deal to me. A company would need to do a real good sell to get me to buy shares just cos they had blockchain tech. Will ASX, for example , be a better investment because of it? ( I see their price has dropped since the blockchain announcement)

joshua its not just about bitcoin... look at coinmarketcap.com
you need to do lots of research if you want to find a great investment....
you are missing the greatest opportunity of all time...
bitcoin is coming back very strong now its going huge man...
this is going to one million dollars each coin....

even more exciting than that is all the altcoins which all offer different investments...
I really love power ledger its 50cents and tipping to be $10 next year... its applying real world applications in the solar market industry where excess power useage can be sold directly to other users....
some of the other applications cut out big industry and corporations so instead of the big corpd making the money it is us... the investors of this and the people who take this up....
its still way early days man theres heaps of time to turn a 100 bagger....
    thats all man....
bitcoin isnt vanishing like all the posters are saying here... that is a load of skalley wags.... this is the most important movement of all time and im extremely proud to be apart of it... do your own research man dont listen to these guys....
im open for personal messages and specific questions im here to help....
    yeahh hargghhhh
