    Explanation in comments section?

"For every study that says the VIX tells us anything, there are 10 that show it's virtually worthless.

It's based on the next month's index options which are a combination of expectations of gain and covered calls that are made to protect gains that have been already made - NOT based on what the market is expected to do."

What Are the compounding returns from property?

I say a house, and property in general, is not an investment, its a lifestyle choice
It can be used as part of an "investment portfolio" but property on its own is risky due volitility, pricing, liquidity, leverage.

"The surprising odds of homeowners losing money"

    https://www.oneroof.co.nz/news/revea...ir-house-45808

"But if you pick any six-month period in the last 32 years, you’ll find that in Auckland house prices went up only 76% of the time (and by up I mean by at least $1). That means they dropped 23% of the time."

"As with most investments, the longer you hold, the higher the chance it goes up in value."

"But that also means 30% of the time it drops in value"

And were in NZ are the highest rents in NZ? Did you guess Gisborne?

"Even after 20 years, there is still a 2% chance (or one in 50) that the value of your house has dropped. It’s highly unlikely, but still possible.

You might wonder if this ever happens in real life. The answer is yes, it does."

"Reserve Bank says, house price increases aren’t a sure bet. But the longer you hold, the better the odds."

Some investors learn quicker than others

"Meet Bryce: The podcaster who has been investing since he was 13"

""I ended up with a portfolio of random, small positions, that really didn’t eventuate too much. Over the course of interviewing 450+ experts on Equity Mates Investing, I’ve come to realise that the best strategy for me is the core and satellite approach," Bryce says. "

"My investment goal is to grow a portfolio that gives me optionality later in life, whereby I have the financial freedom to pursue interests without feeling like I need a pay cheque from someone to support it."

"the core and satellite approach - 60-80% of my portfolio is in index funds, and then I’ve got a concentrated satellite portfolio of individual stocks and some thematic ETFs"

" I’m always invested and I can focus time and energy on" ........ other things I enjoy

"market returns are more than .... most active managers struggle to beat the market over the long term has helped solidify this approach."

"not needing a degree to get started"

"construct a portfolio to really maximise investing in small amounts until you're wealthy enough to branch into different things"
