Depends what you're most comfortable with. Pharmacists use screening tools to determine whether you should be referred to a GP first. About 50% of new consults get directed to a GP. The difference between Viagra and Cialis is length of effect. Cialis when it first came out was nicknamed "Le Weekend" whereas Viagra more of an overnighter.

You can save money going to the pharmacy consulting rooms for Viagra but i think you have to go to the Doc to get Cialis. Cialis way better imo but side effect can be a stiff brain for some as well, ie headaches.

There was an advertising campaign for Avigra a while ago. Promoted as same as Viagra but available over the counter.

Thanks for the replies. Was not aware of the Le Weekend possibility. One has to wonder how often these elixirs are used in the adult film industry. Anyways not trying to become one.
I recall seeing some Avigra advertising however, there's lots of these products that claim the same but no proof on how they really work as they're often classed as "herbal" products. They could be more dangerous as their ingredients aren't fully disclosed.
On a similar note, are they working on a similar drug for the lady?

They have , but from what I've read they've hit the roadblock that for woman arousal is more of a psychological event.
For clarity, nothing I say is advice....

That was the first thing that came to mind when i saw this thread yesterday, but a quick google shows that Avigra is the same drug as Viagra.. and made by the same company no less, just the budget brands version. Would still pay to check the dosage is the same per pill.

Looks like Silvasta is also the same drug (sildenafil citrate).

Interesting discovery. The consultation at the nearby pharmacy charges $40 for sit and blood pressure test and $10/pill. Hardly any savings and probably better to see the GP where I can take my prescription anywhere to have it filled at prices a lot less like online.
It seems online there are many suppliers but question their reliability or if the drugs are safe? This particular one claims you can order without a prescription: (I assume being posted from overseas in a non-regulated country?)

There are some others that do require a prescription for online ordering. Is there a choice of brands among generics? Kinda want to be on the safe side where the drugs come from a reputable supply chain.

Just go and have a thorough check up at your doctor mate. Surely the doctor cost and drug supply through official channels is so minor in the overall scheme of things... why would you take chances with your health ?
Full Blood test, (should be an annual thing for all people over 50) and prostate check too. Heaps of fun.
You'll want to ensure your general health is first class and heart and blood pressure in very good shape before popping any stimulant like Viagra.

There are 3 registered brands in NZ, Viagra (the original) and 2 generics, Silvasta and Vedafil. You can use the Medsafe website to check.

Is it worth to pay the $50 to see the GP or just go to any pharmacy to book in one of their consulting rooms to get a prescription? Cost? There's another called Cialis (if i'm spelling that correctly) - better? Do repeat scripts require repeat consultations?
Don't be shy, pvt msg if you want to be discrete
Best way is to get checked by your gp to make a complete diagnosis(make sure you have not got blocked arteries or diabetes, neurpathy due to B12 defiency etc)
Cheapest way to buy is get a script for Vedafil 100mg-this is the cheapest and best equivalent-50 mg-ie 1/2 tablet works for most-get your script filled online or take to chemist warehouse-cost is only $25 for 12 tabs and you can get upto 90 on one prescription if you have an obliging GP.

Interesting discussion. In case any of you are unaware of this, and use GTN spray for angina, I thought I would share it:
Do not use GTN spray if you are taking medicines used to treat erection problems, such as:
sildenafil (Viagra, Avigra, Vedafil, Silvasta)
tadalafil (Cialis)
vardenafil (Levitra).
Using erectile dysfunction medicine with GTN spray can cause a sudden decrease in blood pressure, which can be life-threatening.

Doctors offices offer privacy, they have your medical record in front of them, they are trained to evaluate the patient, not simply dispense medication after going through a tick box checklist.
Erectile dysfunction can be related to other health issues- eg diabetes, so should be part of a general checkup. There are also some significant contraindications (eg with nitrate medication), which they should discuss with you.
There are online NZ pharmacies that will provide prescription for approx $5/pill. If you get sildenafil (ie viagra/avigra/silvasta/vedafil) prescribed as 100mg it's cheaper than 25mg/50mg pills as they cost about the same (just cut in half or quarters depending on dose is required). Tadalafil (Cialis) works longer, but also costs more so doesn't save anything in terms of bang for your buck.
