So Craig’s rate SUM and RYM highly while Forbar seem to be in love with OCA while an unnamed analyst (prob Forbar) was reported in media as saying ARV is by far the most undervalued in the sector.

It's good though for punters .... at least there's one broker who gives them the warm fuzzies about the stock they prefer

Self picks can become a self-fulling prophecy.

Expect that the likes of Craigs or Forbar would funnel customers through their "buys", and become a substantial portion of the trading in a particualr stock. Ryman has been one of Craigs favourite stoocks for years and would expect almost all of their managed clients would have some in their portfolio.

Or maybe I am just being cynical.....

House prices on way down .....HPI down 2.1% in March (from February)

Won't help sentiment for sector investors

Metlifecare building $200m retirement village in Wanaka | Otago Daily Times Online News (odt.co.nz)

Did the others miss a trick? There was a retirement village planned in this right from the start, a few years ago.

I love it down there and Wanaka probably a lot better than Queenstown now that the latter is so commercialized with tourism but its really cold for 8-9 months of the year. I think its better to retire to a warmer climate and just go down there for a holiday in summer.

Metlifecare is owned by Swedes (EQT) so Wanaka would be almost balmy by Swedish Winter standards!

NZ's low wage economy compared to OZ is a problem too. Also watch the rest home crisis grow if the government introduces reforms making the ORA/Village side of a Retirement company less profitable at the same time as as refusing to cover rising costs in providing basic level rest home beds.
