Of course ... similar to the tabacco industry, the coal industry, the oil industry, the alcohol industry and other misfits, though unfortunately - we do need modern weapons to defend ourselves against the worst autocrats, i.e. defence is not quite as bad as the others.

The only question is - why are the red chinese halfwits supporting the western defence industry? If they and their similar witted counterpart in Russia would have kept their peace, there would not have been a shot in the arm for the western weapons industry - and they didn't do too well the last 3 decades or so.

Never forget - while the West has as well its fair share of half witted leaders, only autocratic systems like China or Russia give such morons all the powers to create maximum havoc.

    Defence?

Try asking the Kurds how they feel about the US abandoning them after using them to fight in Syria.

Try asking the Hmong & other hill tribes in Indochina how they feel about being abandoned by the US after they were recruited to fight in the US war in Vietnam.

US has directly contributed to over 350,000 deaths through its invasion & support of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia - most of the deaths being civilians.

Now the US weapons industry have their sights on how many civilians get killed via their export of weapons of death & destruction in Taiwan.

    WOMD.

The US has zero appetite for a real war. It is a paper Tiger.

We know that because of the Ukraine situation.

6 months from now, the US & West would have forgotten about the Ukrainians - the appetite to support Ukraine is already waning.

Having egged Ukraine on, the US will sit back and watch the Ukrainians get pulverised back to the Stone Age.

That’s what war mongering nations controlled by vested interests (arm industry) do.
Another 6 months from now, the Ukrainians will be left to fend mostly on their own:

“As the war rages on into its sixth month, Ukrainians have started to notice that the level of interest from the international community is starting to wane.”

When the war began, the west — and, most vocally, the US — promised Ukrainians unwavering support.

But in the past few weeks, the country has fallen off the news and social media agenda.

    Celebrities are less vocal.

Powerful companies are no longer pledging the money and support they once did.

After pleading with Biden to to do more for Ukraine in March, several US Senators voted against a $40 billion humanitarian package for the besieged country.

Still be enough support after the House changes hands in November complete with Presidential decree to get support into Ukraine.

Pentagon is buying air defence and NATO will continue to support Ukraine. US will soon start training UKE pilots.

Dont think it all going to stop supplies reaching the UKE's.

The RUS are running out of PGW's...

The US needs Putin to act rationally for its plan to succeed

    Stephen Bartholomeusz

There is considerable scepticism that a US proposal for a cap on the price of Russian oil will be effective. Nevertheless, it is the only option on the table that might avert another huge spike in oil prices and another surge in global inflation rates.

    https://www.smh.com.au/business/markets/the-us-needs-putin-to-act-rationally-for-its-plan-to-succeed-20220809-p5b8df.html?utm_content=opinion&list_name=2032_smh _busnews_pm&promote_channel=edmail&utm_campaign=bu siness-pm&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_term =2022-08-09&mbnr=MjI4NTYzMDg&instance=2022-08-09-17-49-AEST&jobid=29406639

"Given the complex geopolitics at play and the level of hubris and apparent lack of concern about the economic pain it has imposed on Russia that Putin has displayed during the invasion of Ukraine, economic rationalism might, of course, not prevail."
