Keeping up with US thinking and preparation...

Making the most of northern Australia’s strategic geography

    https://www.aspistrategist.org.au/making-the-most-of-northern-australias-strategic-geography/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Weekly%20The%20Stra tegist&utm_content=Weekly%20The%20Strategist+CID_a 253f7e4f7a27b7551955ee5fa6992af&utm_source=Campaig nMonitor&utm_term=Making%20the%20most%20of%20north ern%20Australias%20strategic%20geography

"Today, Australia is key terrain in the Indo-Pacific. The defence strategic update of 2020 said that, with less than 10 years of warning of any significant future conflict, time was no longer on our side. With this paradigm shift, we must now consider force posture and logistic preparedness in far more detail than at any other time since World War II.

Since the strategic update was released, Australia has entered into the AUKUS security pact with the US and UK. The agreement covers advanced cyber, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, quantum technologies, undersea capabilities, hypersonics and counter-hypersonics, electronic warfare, innovation and information sharing. There ought to be little doubt that this pact will shape US, UK and Australian military cooperation for decades. But to what extent is difficult to predict, given the immediacy of its key areas of focus: nuclear submarines, cyber and hypersonics."

Example of Cryptography risks that IBM is fixing...think about it...

IBM bolsters quantum cryptography for z16 mainframe

IBM adds NIST’s new public-key encryption and digital signatures algorithms to defend against attacks by future quantum computers.

    https://www.reseller.co.nz/article/700240/ibm-bolsters-quantum-cryptography-z16-mainframe/?utm_campaign=channelbeat-pm-edition-2022-07-29&utm_source=channelbeat-pm-edition&utm_medium=newsletter&eid=486

"One of the more current threats the new algorithms could help protect against is the “harvest now decrypt later” attack scenario, in which attackers steal encrypted data in present time with the idea that they can decrypt it later with a quantum computer."

To be fair ... I don't think that there are any people and especially empires which didn't misbehave throughout the darker parts of their respective history - and they all had them:

    British soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like America, India, parts of Africa), kill plenty of civilians, torture innocent people and even mutilate women to futher the British industry (India);

Dutch soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like West and East India), kill plenty of civilians, torture innocent people.

German soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like Eastern Europe including Ukraine and Russia, but as well France and many more), kill civilians, torture innocent people and commit genocide.

Spanish and Portuguese soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like Latin and South America), kill civilians, torture innocent people and commit genocide.

Remember what Belgium did in the Kongo?

Turkish soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like all parts of the Ottoman empire they stole and raped together, kill civilians, torture innocent people and commit genocide (Armenia).

New Zealand soldiers used to occupy territories they had no business in (like tribal land belonging to the Maori), kill civilians, torture innocent people

Maori used to enslave innocent civilians, kill them and have them for dinner

The United States happened to push over democratically elected governments in countries where they had no business at all (e.g. Chile, but as well Indonesia) and established instead blood thirsty tyrants killing and torturing their own people ... and they frequently attacked countries which haven't been any threat for them (Iraq, Lybia, Afghanistan).

Let not get me started describing the attrocities committed by the Japanese during WW2, but as well what other Asian people did (and still like to do, e.g. in Myanmar) to each other.

Obviously there is as well, Iran, the Arab countries and Israel. They all love to kill each other - and a bit closer to Europe is the Balkan, where the latest genocide is just 2.5 decades ago.

And than there is Africa ... many people there liked to kill and extinguish other people, just as anybody else does.

Of course - this list is by far not complete, even the so called Holy Catholic Church loved to occupy territorites and kill and torture innocent people in the millions (e.g. so called Holy Inquisition, but there have been as well plenty of land wars various popes have been starting).

And yes, Russia is occupying territories they have no business in, killing plenty of civilians, torture innocent people and condoning rapes and child killings.

Disgusting bunch - the human race.

I think it is important not to build up a case against Russians per se (well, not more than against any other people). The problem is that the Russians have currently no system stopping brutal tyrants to take control, but this is true for many other countries in the world as well. We need to help them to turn into democratic systems with enough checks and balances.

Get rid of the tyrants ... and defend democratic systems, no matter whether it is against a crook like Putin attacking our values from the outside or whether it is against crooks in our system trying to destroy them from the inside.

Dont forget BP the British fort to protect against slavery with their new war ships in the late 1890's.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/history/britis...ticle_01.shtml

This is forgotten even by most historians and only the dark operators inside the empire are remembered today.

Even here in NZ one person one vote nearly went west recently if it wasnt for the bill of rights.

Western Civilisation is moving fast and faster leaving behind the many peoples it invades and that causes the rifts as the local voices and cultures are swamped as E Rata has been pointing out for over a decade now.

Banking modernisation should soon allow western businesses to move globally within its new found technologies (Block chain like).

New Zealand is no longer considered by many to be a safe place to keep intellectual property.
