Those Dutch cartographers were the first to give one name to this archipelago - Nova Zeelandia - so I see we should stick to that and ignore the subsequent anglicized version of it. My vote goes to Nova Zeelandia although for some inhabitants of the islands it did indeed usher in a New Tyranny.
I think Zealandia should be retired from the coat of arms. She is too much of a cultural cringe to Britannia? The warrior should be replaced by an IT consultant and Zealandia by a realtor.
Fellow Commonwealth province - Nova Scotia - kept its Latin name.

New Zealand is well established as the country's name. What have Ceylon, Burma, Bombay etc, acheived by changing names - other than confusion?

I am not confused by any of their current names. In fact it is less confusing, as I know if an old name is used it is easier to place it into context - similarly with Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul. Name changes are part of historical evolution.

Thanks for that, shame i love Aotearoa. Nu Tirani then .Maybe New Zealand in smaller letters under it for a few years.
