FIF Exemption List

Well it seems they finally "fixed" the IRD fif exempt calculator, by removing it and replacing it with a questionnaire! A question, are etfs such as ASX:IOZ or ASX:ASIA considered exempt? Are foreign focused LICs such as ASX:PAI exempt? Going by this questionnaire it seems all of them are exempt, yet this makes very little sense that one can avoid FIF entirely by holding FIF entities through ASX listed holding vehicles. Have I misunderstood this? Thanks in advance.

I don't understand it either.. and have been pondering this myself.

I was considering investing in ASX, but not sure which companies are exempt from FIF.
