Obviously you haven't kept up with the news.
There was a very good reason for the PM's silence, 2 Kiwi idiot self important Social Media Influencers ignored official advice to stay out of Iran, went in & were taken hostage by the authorities.
Foreign Affairs had been trying to secure their release & have only just succeeded.
Another 19 Kiwi's are still in Iran.
When you are dealing with regimes which ignore fundamental human rights & holding hostages, you don't provoke the Ayatollahs if you want to get your people out alive.
It must be irritating for the PM to have to silently suffer completely unfounded criticisms from people ignorant of the situation & not be able to respond without risking the lives of the fools who put themselves in harms way & went there against official advice.
