    Default Payments from Māori Authorities

Does anyone else have the problem of spurious appearances of 'Payments from Māori Authorities' appearing on their ird sources of income? Which cannot be deleted because it then asks "when did you last receive a payment form a Māori Authority" and Never is not an option. It appears to me to be associated with receiving 'Dividends treated as interest' ie get the latter and the former crops up. It seems to me to be a bug in the ird system, not the fault of the payor of the Dividend treated As Interest. PS Inspite of going to the trouble of using macrons I have no māori blood or receipts. Very annoying, been going on for years.

THanks for that. I have not that I know of, but will keep my eyes peeled next time I look at doing my IR3.

Never popped up on my IR3 either. I thought (without looking) that was one of the qualifying check boxes early in the form-with the ability to check yes or no?

Have seen this for other online fields as well for IR3 filers - at Tax Agency level.

It extends to other areas as well - Partnership ceased income etc etc

The most annoying is the default which for business income field automatically brings up Residentiial Rentals Interest deduction - total interest & interest claim fields

That is very annoying, especially since I fill in about 5 returns with business income that have not rental income. And you cannot uncheck that box either. I will make suggestions to IRD to change this.

It seems overkill from the IRD, but I understand their initial rationale but this goes over the top.

When I contacted ird they blamed the payor. Said to contact them. Did so, no result. But now the same thing is occurring with Sharesies as the payor of 'dividends treated as interest' too. For every payment there is a 0.00 payment from a Maori Authority as well. Weird if it's just me.

I completed a return recently and got this annoying bug. I used to inform businesses but now I leave it to them as sooner or later they will work it out.

Definitely not just you. It is happening to a lot of people. As for asking the payor - one cannot determine who the payor is.

Maybe we are all going to receive a return on Treaty settlements.

Given we can identify as whatever we like nowadays, I'm sure most of us could drum up 1 ancestor in 64...
