I like your way of thinking. Definitely a more politically correct approach when compared to my posit. That may solve the ram raid problems.

But will it cause other problems down the track?

No discernible problems down the track in Singapore. Just very little crime.

Assaults on police nearly doubled to 3 a day under Labour’s 4 police ministers in 1 year :

Newstalk ZB can reveal officers reported more than 1000 attacks during 2022, up from 631 the year before, with Prime Minister Chris Hipkins saying any violence towards police is “unacceptable.”

One officer with years of experience on the frontline, speaking on the condition of anonymity, talked about the confronting reality of the job.

“I’ve been shot, stabbed, beaten, kicked ... you name it, they’ve done it to me,” they said. “Those stats are terrifying, that’s horrific.”

Papakura High School burglaries: Police arrest and charge 18-year-old

An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to a series of burglaries at Papakura High School in the past six months.

The man was bailed to appear in the Papakura District Court yesterday.

The Counties Manukau South Tactical Crime Unit had been investigating several burglaries which occurred between December 2022 and May 2023, a police spokesperson said.

Detective Sergeant Allan Nixon said an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the burglaries.

“It’s always disappointing when important institutions such as schools are targeted in this way.”

Items stolen included 65 Chromebooks, televisions, tablets, food and phones, Nixon said.

Another Hypocrit / Gingerly Ginny series of Wet Bus Tickets to be issued for this ?

Or will it be a special Kelvin endorsed '"Pat on the head & be a good boy - after every past disadvantaged youth excuse under the sun gets trawled up" before being released to do some more of the same ?

It's disappointing people like yourself have such a poor grasp of basic civics, & must be so frustrating for the police who are doing a tough thankless job, when you criticise the Minister of Police & by association the entire Police force, about Court sentencing issues which they have absolutely zero control over.

The Police can only catch, arrest & charge criminals, then hand them over to the Courts for Judges to decide what to do with them.
Your beef is with the Judicial system & of course as most people know, Judges act independently of the Police or MP's or Ministers who must not influence their sentencing in individual cases.

Suggesting the Minister of Police will issue these culprits a "wet bus ticket" shows a complete lack of understanding of how our judicial system works & is ridiculous. All the police can do is present people who have committed crimes to the Courts & press charges.

I know judges want to keep these young adults out of prison if possible as once they get into that institution they are virtually certain to become career criminals & at some stage they have to be let out back into society.
It's not easy but sometimes if you give people second chances & even 3rd chances like current National MP Sam Uffindale, they are much more likely to turn their life around.

No-one said anything about Police issuing Wet Bus Tickets - did they ?

Obviously the wrong signals are being sent out for this sort of thing to be repeating daily with
widespread crimewaves .. even you should be intelligent enough to see that

Or would giving our free computers and laptops to all be a solution ?

Remove from them what they have excess of -- Spare Time

Appropriate that Spare Time to Compulsary Work where they can't get into trouble or wouldn't try.

At least that offers better solution to learning something meaningful

    Viable solution ?
