The latest Taxpayers-Union Curia poll shows bumps for ACT and Te Pāti Māori after the hīkoi and introduction of the Treaty Principles Bill last month.
It comes at the expense of both main parties - reversing the trend of the previous month - with smaller falls in support for the Greens and New Zealand First. The coalition parties would still have enough seats to hold government, under the poll's numbers.
National: 34.2 percent, down 4.6 percentage points (44 seats)
Labour: 26.9 percent, down 4.6 (34 seats)
ACT: 13 percent, up 4.5 (17 seats)
Greens: 8.3 percent, down 1 (11 seats)
NZ First: 5.4 percent, down 1.1 (7 seats)
Te Pāti Māori: 5.5 percent, up 3 (7 seats)
It is the first time ACT has overtaken the Greens since February under the Curia poll.

The misnamed Tax Payer Union's polls are very out of kilter with the rest & typically are right biased.
I don't really expect ACT's support to fall as far right support & racism within individuals seldom changes.
However it has galvanized Maori and Maori ensuring they are enrolled on the Maori roll. It may not actually help as Maori seats are fixed, unlike the party seats than can be swapped between parties according to their percentage of the vote.
It's all moot anyway as without National, ACT are left nowhere. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Shane Jones and Winston Peters start softening their rhetoric towards the opposition as they tend to blow hard with the political wind of the day.

Usual garbage from you. Check the facts before you make a monkey out of your heritage.
Curia's Oct 2023 poll was close to the actual 2023 election results :

https://www.electionresults.govt.nz/...nresults_2023/
TV1 was also close :

In any case, the polls this week simply showed that the Maori vote (always with the left) switches between Labour, the Greens and Maori Party.
It is a massive positive insofar as the racial division will become very pronounced and that’s what NZ needs. No point hiding behind niceties.

So where do middle NZers stand on the Treaty principles?
Here’s a poll to provide some idea :
https://centrist.nz/poll-majority-of...treaty-debate/
Recent polling commissioned by Hobson’s Pledge shows 62% of New Zealanders support honouring the Treaty of Waitangi, provided it upholds fundamental human rights, with only 12% disagreeing.
However, the poll also found low support (13%) for the belief that the Treaty mandates 50% Māori representation in Parliament, with only Te Pāti Māori voters expressing overall agreement.

Labour is not going to shunt their Maori caucus and will not wish to be labelled racists and anti-woke and will fall on that sword at the next election.

Such a low standard of debate.
And yes as I said, the switch in Maori vote will make little difference. I wonder why not many Maori vote for the right?
How many Maori vote for ACT & yet they think they should renegotiate the Treaty with Maori.
The arrogance is incredible.

Precisely why ACT is the PARTY to do away with the Maori gravy train.

Maori are on the bottom of the heap in statistics on life expectancy, health, housing, employment, ecomomic status, and justice.
Some gravy train!
