I hope these companies have fiscal discipline with clear metrics they expect from their capital expenditure.

Not just investing in stuff with an "AI" label... or paying overprice to acquire companies only due to the potential for competitors to snap them up before them.

My pick is M$FT because their value hasn't moved in 2024 and they've always been focused on extracting the most $ they can from consumers.

Here's the current state of play.
Rocket Lab out of the blocks against the mega caps.
I basically picked Rocket Lab as my 2nd highest based on their small comparative market cap and teh potential for large percentage gains.
Apple the laggard and I think its going to be an interesting year for them as when was the last breakthrough product that Apple launched?

2024 Close Current price % gain
    Rocket Lab 25.47 29.67 16.5%
    Nivida 134.29 147.09 9.5%
    Meta 585.51 625.71 6.9%
    Amazon 219.39 233.63 6.5%
    Microsoft 421.5 445.28 5.6%
    Alphabet 190.44 199.78 4.9%
    Tesla 403.84 416.64 3.2%
    Apple 250.42 223.29 -10.8%

Funny, banning advanced chip sales into China has possibly caused this..

Hmmm not sure it caused this as a ban is a relatively recently thing and surely this was in development for some time.
But yep Trump's isolationist policies will cause reactions and not all good for the US.

Seems there are different views on its applications and which competitor it hurts the most.

    Yes agree.
I have always said to people this banning and other restricted things was bad from their day one moments.

Simple logic ... Two entities of similar (combined) intelligence, one denies an important piece of material to gain an upper hand, the other will be forced to innovate to get around that problem and in the process becomes the Disruptor.

In the medium to long term this disruption will be great for all markets.

It's a wake up call to force the disrupted markets to "try better", innovate and compete.......All investors have to learn to become very flexible and realise disruption in all markets increase exponentially.

This exponentially increasing frequency of innovation will create an era called "Age of Abundance" forecast to last a decade and become evident now (2025 - 2035). As the A of A era progress items become readily available to the people rich and poor. The theory of price and demand will prevail, to the extreme of some commonly used products being free.

Back to the present day..expect the disruptees black eye to heal quickly as they have learn't a lot in the last few days.

The Word (2 words) of the Day is "Jevon's Paradox". We will become very familiar with this paradox in the A of A era.

Great to hear from you Winner.
I'm keeping well and life is exciting.... I normally take the social media as a time wasting brainwashing distraction but late last night I stayed up glued to my screen when the "WTF moment" hit the Magnificent 7 on the Futures Market. I'm a futurist and into all thing tech but I was with the rest of the Western World Markets wondering what happened. I trawled though social media to get everyone's opinion. From well researched posts to the most "harebrained", it was very entertaining couple of hours watching human behaviour in its glory, warts and all..
