...although I do not follow Yogi's trading strategy, think about the influence of the planets like that:

...the gravity of the earth affects us

...wind, sunshine affects our moods to a certain degree

...there are hundreds of stories of how the moon affects the earth and us

...in terms of decision making for example, I am 100% sure that not many people pack their swimming gear when it's cold and miserable, but when the sun shines we all go to the beach, are happy etc...

...even a very simple example like that shows with absolut certainty that the planets have an influence on our behavior...

...now from the very gross to the very subtle:

...our untrained senses are able to pick up vibrations of only the most co**** kind...subtle vibrations are non-existent for most of us ordinary folks...but the trained person experiences the whole vibrational field of our material universe...

    Kind Regards

Are these the sort of vibes you're talking about Ananda?

Mystery noise is a real humdinger
    26 October 2006
    by STEPHEN HUTCHEON
    Sydney Morning Herald

Scientists investigating a strange humming sound in Auckland believe they have pinpointed the frequency. The source of the noise, however, remains a mystery.

According to Dr Tom Moir, a computer engineer at Massey University's Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences, the low level drone is almost certainly hitting the scales at a frequency of 56hz.

He has tested three people who can hear the noise and they all come up around that frequency. A fourth person who was tested returned an inconclusive result.

Although 56hz is within the standard range of human hearing - which can range from 20 to 20,000hz - it is too low for most people to pick up.

That however, has not brought the sleuths any closer to pinpointing the source of the hum which they have dubbed the Unidentified Acoustic Phenomena.

Dr Moir rules out geological factors. "It's more likely to be things like pipes under the ground - you known, gas pipes, sewerage pipes, factories in the distance."

But for those who can hear it, the sound is the bane of their lives, driving some to distraction and others to take drastic action.

Dr Moir said one sufferer, a man, was so desperate to stop hearing the sound that he deliberately tried to damage his own hearing by cranking up a chain saw close to his ears. "He said it was so bad, he couldn't stand it. It was driving him mad."

Another victim of the hum says it can prevent her from sleeping at night.

Since a woman living in the North Shore suburb of Brown's Bay first contacted Dr Moir and his colleague Dr Fakhrul Alam in mid-August, the scientists have been approached by about 30 sufferers, all from areas in Auckland's north.

"These people who pick [the hum] up have a very low threshold for hearing at low frequencies - don't know why, but they do," says Dr Moir.

Some have been reticent to give away more details of their predicament for fear that reports of persistent humming could adversely affect the resale price of their homes.

With the help of one of the sufferers, Dr Moir has developed a simulation of the sound. "The real thing," he says "is more like the drone of an aircraft and it comes and goes," he said.

The affliction appears to be similar to tinnitus, a condition in which sufferers hearing a constant, high-pitched ringing sound. In severe case it can affect sleep and normal daily routines.

A number of high profile musicians are said to have suffered from tinnitus including Beethoven, Bono and Eric Clapton.

Complicating the investigation is the fact that neither Dr Moir nor his colleague can hear the sound so with each sufferer they visit they must first run tests to rule out psychosomatic factors and any other obvious causes.

Fortunately, Dr Moir discovered on the weekend that his wife, who accompanied him on a visit to one of the affected homes, was able to hear the hum.

This is not the first incidence of humming in New Zealand. In 2005, New Zealand author Rachel McAlpine wrote a book called The Humming.

In her novel set in small town, an artist called Ivan and a number of the townsfolk are plagued by a low frequency humming noise.

The book was largely inspired by the author's own experiences in the seaside town of Puponga on the northwest tip of the South Island which was itself at the centre of a humming mystery some years back

    rmbbrave:

vibration - frequency...every material, mental-material phenomenon has it's own signiture vibration (frequency), simply because of it's particle structure

...anyway, coming back to our decision-making processes in the market and elsewhere being influenced by:

    ...planetary constellations
    ...time-cycles
    ...number constellations
    ...the stars

...well there are people pushing ideas, that if you believe in god, the holy Mary, or the holy spirit, he/she/it will guide you through the daily decision-making processes to a better future

One line of thought we know as:

    religion

the other line of thought we know as:

    new age thinking

Common to both is the attempt to take advantage of our failure to be able to logically, scientifically explain how all aspects (including decision-making) of the mind-body phenomenon works. The outcome of such attempts are more often than not the creation of dependence upon:

...belief systems (without proof >> you got to have faith mate)
    ...rites and rituals
...religious priests, nuns and other lieutenants of gods/goddesses/its
    ...personae cults
    ...reliance on drugs
...reliance on religious objects and paraphernalia (books, relics etc, etc)

Funnily enough, because someone has given us hope, a goal, a strategy, a positive outlook and due to a surprising willingness to disregard critical self-reflection, we are happily prodding along after whoever promises us the best return, be it in the form of a promised land, the garden of Eden, better market returns, or even the virgins we failed to nail in this life, the list is on-going...

    What the outcome is not:

...be our own master

...coming back to the example of our behavior being influenced by the sun.

There can be no argument that most people experience elated moods, go into nature, go to the beach, etc...

The question is: has the sun the power to make us do certain things???

Conventionally, it seems that way since we can all observe a lot of people doing certain things when the sun is shining. As a result, a clever person might take advantage of this observation and swiftly create a sun-god who will look after us under certain conditions. (almost always giving money)

On an actual level however, we have conditioned our mind to react in certain ways when the sun is shining, because we have started to associate pleasant experiences with sunshine and whenever the sun is shining we feel pleasant sensation arising on our bodies, and pleasant thoughts arising in our minds...and then, it's away to the beach...

A person dying of skin cancer because of sun exposure will have a completely different set of parameters to judge sunshine.

...but under both scenarios the sun is just the sun and keeps shining because that is what the sun does.

The sun has NO POWER over us in regards of creating pleasant or unpleasant experiences or anything else for that matter but -WE DO-

Good on ya, Duncan, pimpit, kiwi and others opposed to yet another attempt to sell us as silly old fools

    Kind Regards

    Hi Pimpit,

Respectfully, Fibonacci simply claimed a long-standing
principle as his own work, when further research reveals
that Pythagoras also knew about the same mathematical
    sequence, about 400 BC ... !~!

In fact, if you do some more research on the same sequence,
it is found in the NATURAL growth cycles of many animal and
plant species ... ie tree rings, crabs, worms, etc, etc

..... and you can also add the OLDEST evidence in the same
sequence ... the ratio of Venus/Earth planetary movements
arounnd the sun, expressed in days:

    226/365.25 = 6187542

Given that planetary relationship has been in existence
since creation, there's nothing new under the Sun .....

    happy days

You win some, you lose some just like the rest of us.

I bet your chances of winning or losing are the same of the rest of us too.

But if you claim to have a system that works you should be winning a lot more than you are losing.

As the market goes up on average about 10% per year someone who "Buys and Holds" or "Buys the Index" wins more often then not.

If you claim to have a system you have to be beating "Buy and Holders" or " Index buyers".
