    Default Charting Software

Could one of those experienced in these matters recommend a Charting Software programme suitable for "intermediate" use, not a beginner but definitely not an expert. Computer and maths literate with some statistical knowledge.

Would prefer one that would automatically download and store the information on a daily basis.

Cost is a consideration but I am not looking for something cheap and nasty.

    My thanks in advance.

I have used Metastock since 1993. No complaints, although I still miss the 'look' of the DOS version.

My data is sourced thru Infoscan. Been using them for about 7 years, and love their 'One Click' download. Tried some of the cheaper data providers before that, but just not worth it.

    Steve,

    Thanks for the info.

Do you mind telling me how many stocks you are monitoring and the cost of the Software and Infotech service.

    Regards,

    Terry,
Here is a link for Infoscan :- http://www.infoscan.co.nz/meta.html

You might be interested in a relevant article I wrote a few years ago. Some of the links and prices are bound to be out-of-date!

Terry, I follow NZX, ASX shares, ASX Warrants and a number of FX. Cost is around $50/mth EOD. Not sure what the current price of the software is, but the last upgrade I got was around $500 which jumped 3 versions.

I am new to this forum and have with interest followed your TA & FA analyses of shares. In the late '90s I was hooked by Metashare (and have just about recovered)I still have Metastock version 6.52! but data only to 2002.
I want to get involved again in the markets and wonder if any of you can advise on the merits of using Infoscan or Findata for EOD data. Infoscan is dearer and requires a half year subscription front up, but ?

    I use FinData.
Seems reasonable @ $40 for Aus & NZ plus Currencies.
Have had no trouble so far.
I originally bought their CD of History data and EOD gets emailed every night.
Might wnat to look at upgrading your Metastock to at least version 8 as well.
