Probably best then that I don't mention that interest rates are effectively negative already

1.4% on term deposit less tax gives ~ 1% net and with inflation averaging about 2% per annum in recent years term deposit investors are effectively in real terms going backwards and earning a real inflation adjusted return of -1.0% per annum
