Its time they brought this bank to the market, it needs capital and NZX needs a new listing. It would get more local support if locals could start buying shares in it.

Interesting.Yes locals will no doubt start buying shares in it.

    OK.

But mate I hope you are not suggesting that "locals" (apart from shareholders) will in anyway benefit.

Im not a socialist by any means but is not correct to say that banks in this part of the world are the most profitable in the world.

I'd be interested. Bull can you make it a poll?
Would you consider investing in KB if it were listed on the NZX?

Locals benefit in a indirect way, by strengthening Kiwibank and making it more competitive it makes the big banks more competitive and we get an overall better banking product in the market.

Thats how competition works. If you introduce a local player who has the strengthen to take on existing players then they can offer better deals. Think about how 2Degrees changed the telecommunications market or how petrol is more competitive with NPD and Gull. The more strength in additional players the better the competition and likely more better deals.

This is banking that we are talking about. Just regulate the industry.
Kiwi bank would make a complete hash of spending billions trying to up size systems and capital without a big Aussie brother walking them through it.

Most mum and dads who invest already own banking stocks.
How many people say bank with ANZ and then own shares and receive the capital gains and dividends.
Could Kiwi Bank earn a return on capital without the smart and stream lined systems that the Aussie Banks already have?

Im not a fan. Are we sure that Willis didn't pinch this idea off Jacinda.

Wasn't it these guys that tried moving staff to Hastings or some other small NZ backwater. That's the kind of thinking that we are dealing with here.
And I would put money on that their customer base are not the top end of town. I. E low margin customer base.

You will be pleased to know Hastings got the interweb thingy last year. Add in the newfangled cellular mobile phone towers that are coming next year and we will be right up there....
