Default AQA - Aquila Resources (Iron Ore & Coal)

I subscribe to the eureka report, in which charlie aitken brought up the following company: AQA, Aquila resources. interestingly, nobody picked this company in the stock comp, despite it being of fairly significant size and the board being dominated by resources companies.......I dont know much about resource co's, so i thought i would bring this up for discussion and input from those with a better understanding of how to assess a resources co's prospects. at first glance, it looks interesting. very interesting. here is a brief summary of what aitken included.

Aquila has a growing market cap of $2 billion and is primarily concerned with iron ore and coal.
Apparently not covered by any brokers
Investors on its register include the private mining group AMCI Investments; the UK-based specialist mining funds of the Blackrock Group and the US-based specialist mining funds of Gabelli & Co.
Chief executive owns just over 30% of the issued capital, and with other board members that ownership level moves to just over 50%

Approximately $200 million in cash and liquid investments.
Pipeline of projects that gives the company leverage to coal and iron ore

    PRODUCTION
    Isaac Plains Coal Project

    PRE FEASIBILITY
the Peak Downs East underground coal project; the Belvedere Coal underground project and the West Pilbara Iron ore Project

    SCOPING STUDIES
    scoping studies under way on the Washpool Coal Project, the Red Hill Coal project, the Northern Cape Iron ore Project and the Thabazimbi iron Ore projects;

    IN EXPLORATION
Asenjo Energy coal project, the East Pilbara Iron Ore Project and a number of licences in the Bowen Basin.

would be interested in your thoughts.

    thanks in advance.

Well i've given you a head start then...

I've seen recent valuations (AUG 08) of $17.50 per share.

However, 80% of the valuation is tied up in there exploration projects namely the promising Iron Ore project.

Still the main coal project is forecasting $A110 - 120m profit FY09.

quite an incredible drop in the SP.
800m market cap 560 in cash and equivalents.
The SP is lower than during the worst of the GFC.

Agree totally TBE. I just can't quite work out what their strategy is....Seem to have a lot of good assets that require a lot of CAPEX. Why sell a producing asset though?
