I'd buy shares in Tajik Airlines before I'd buy gold.

Tajik Airlines might have some upside.

Notice he did not answer the question, how many new VBA shares does he own and unfortunately
consolidation and crash and burn will be the norm in the air line industry.

    Default VBA Charts...... and Gold

Interesting, but only an idiot would be holding VBA at this time, HC - and Skol is not an idiot. VBA gave unequivocal SELL signals over 6 weeks ago, closing out a year-long, very profitable trade for those interested in airline stocks.

You obviously haven't looked at the facts HC! This chart compares the performance of VBA with that of Gold. The contrast is ludicrous. Even if Skol had been stupid enough to continue holding VBA right up to and including its latest 28% fall, he would STILL be well ahead of gold!

Use your common sense Tricha. None, I'll bet. You really must try and master the concept of only holding stocks while they are going up - and selling them when they start to fall. No emotional involvement, see?

All industries (and all metals!) are cyclic, Tricha. Not even you would think gold will go up for ever, surely? More fool you if you buy and hold anything "forever".

I still have a few but sold most some time back. Good profit too. I believe I still have 5000 but not sure, I'm overseas at the moment.
VBA must be doing something to get it this badly wrong, the aviation industry from where I see it is booming.

Load factors are up, but prices down. Have most airlines got their fleets in full service yet again, Skol? I remember there were xxxx number of 747's etc parked up on tarmacs all around world during the GFC. Just wondering whether they recovered...

As always, there will be a good buying opportunity with VBA, they tend to get heavily oversold, heavily over bought...and then do it all over again.

THe GFC hasn't affected airlines in our part of the world too badly, NZ and Aust haven't felt the effects anywhere near like the rest of the planet. I think because we are commodity based economies and despite all that's gone wrong the excesses of the rest of the world didn't infect us that badly.
AIR, QAN and VBA have had a sweet spot and VBA have made a mess of this. They are acquiring new aircraft and staff numbers are stable so I'd like to know what they've been up to with the load factors being what they are.

Emirates signed the A380 order in Berlin, where it is seeking to persuade the German government to lift restrictions on access to German airports.
