    Default bUYING jAPanese

I have a fairly basic question. My daughter is going to Japan for six months in late august. Looking at the charts, now looks like not a bad time to buy some yen for her personal expenses over the six months. My question is where to buy from and where does she hold it. She does not have a japanese bank account but maybe able to open one once she is there. Anyone able to help us out here.

    thanks

The ASB bank will let you buy yen and you have it sitting in an account earning no interest. No charges but they make their money with the difference between their buy and sell rates. You could lock in a good rate if you thought it was a good rate though.
You would still need to work out how you will send/use it in Japan. The banks should be able to help with that.

Thanks Aaron. That's good she's already with ASB. We'll look into it.
