Shorting stocks

As a new trader I've created a solid portfolio though a anz trading account.
I'm now considering shorting but notice that there doesn't seem to be a way to do that on the anz platform
Apologies if this is a stupid question but is the only way to short a stock though a broker?

I don't short but I'm fairly sure that you are right. Shorting involves borrowing a stock to sell it - difficult to do on the small NZ market, I would have thought, without the intervention of a third party.
