One simple way, before you get to registered users, would be to have a form so that one can specify whether one is NZ tax resident or not and store it in a cookie/local storage.
So once specified the website serves up the required data set.

Oh.ok what I DONT know about computers and software is unfortunately embarrassing in its magnitude. However my programmer partner would no doubt have an appreciation of what you suggest. So as I understand what you are saying...when/if a user logs in..their requirements are recognised and they are shunted in the appropriate direction. Makes sense...still have the problem of browsers and multiple options mean multiple work loads. I'm trying to make myself obsolete. Very much appreciated. There is not a lot of research tools available in New Zealand so this site is very much welcomed.

No the user would not need to log in.
Your programmer could do a little form or a bit of javascript or whatever he wants, to enable the user to choose NZ or not NZ which is stored in the browser(s) cookie.

Then at the relevant points change the data displayed.

OK it is a little bit of effort but If he says he can't do that, then...

One area of interest to some (incl me) is DRP. You have a tab on this but the details of the plans is not always on the details tab. In particular, how the price is set and whether a discount is offered.

With the FAQ's, you should repeat the question above the answer. Otherwise if you decide to read them all one after the other, you dont know what the question is.

Personally I think you should make the site look prettier but that is of less importance than the info.

    Another idea -

A declared dividends page showing the ex date, paid date, cps and ics

Forecast dividends page based on prior year dates and amounts (not sure about this one)

Hi KT...yes theres a million out there...most of them dont have the tools we have...but its not really a problem. I take the view do the best you can and look for the gaps and do your own thing. The more you try and compete or outdo someone you create problems for yourself so steady as she goes and dont get distracted is my motto. Its always interesting to see what other sites are doing however..I must admit have used some as inspiration but try and improve it if possible. All good fun.

So its a quiet Sat morning...the sun is shining and all is well in Wellington. I did some calculations on my portfolio and can report that my average gross dividend yield on my capital invested(before tax) is 9.1% per annum. This ranges from a low of GFF at 3.6% to a high of TUA at 15.44% 20 companies in the portfolio and mix of 8 assorted bonds and balance in shares (all NZX). My original goal was to build a portfolio with a diversified mix of relatively conservative investments with a track record of producing year after year. Some fortuitous buying at low points in cycles have pushed up the yield by a couple of % points. Also sitting on capital gain of 12% overall. If I had left funds in TD's would have done ok but this dividend focussed approach has dramatically improved the return. As an aside I am fully recognisant of the fact that I have missed out on growth like Xero etc. etc and also the NZX has increased overall as well but have chosen this path to reduce my time spent messing around with research and buying/selling. The chances are of course that a market correction will occur sometime but I'm not worried about timing it since hopefully the portfolio will keep producing same return regardless of the SP and worldwide economic situation. Lazy investing? Probably yes. Smart?...time will tell. For retired people looking to supplement super and pensions its worth a look IMHO.

Just to advise any users that we have just added a new feature to our Dividend Yield website. There is a new column with links which shows the Share Price history for every company for last 90 days.

Mandarin speakers anywhere in Wellington? For the next phase of our website we are planning a Chinese language version of our website for dividend yields. Are there any bi-lingual English/Mandarin speakers in wellington area who would be willing to help out. This is a non-paying labour of love since the website has no income...maybe in future but is basically an ongoing information driven website. We want to start driving some overseas investors towards the New Zealand share market. If anyone is interested you can PM me if you want. Thanks.
