Hope there is at least one close cliffhanger race tomorrow where the lead changes a few times; be int to see what changes there are to boats and crew; desperate measures now; and hope some cocked up protest doesn't eventuate or a damaging of boats. As they keep saying "its all on the table" but we are well positioned
    Hi

Here's some data that might be of interest to you which was prepared on the independent cupinfo.com website.

    http://cupinfo.com/cupstats/index.php

It's SOG (speed over ground) and it helps explain that ETNZ were just a little quicker in tacks and gybes (and made fewer mistakes).

PS Luna Rossa CoR no surprise, Max Sirena has been on loan to ETNZ... I imagine Ernesto (who is now a member of the New York Yacht Club) might also put up a challenge potentially under a French or Italian flag and that we see the nationality rule tightened up a lot - although I think 'Hot Rod' who is a sailing coach for ETNZ has sailed for New Zealand, Australia, USA, Sweden amongst others.

Thanks REP; thats really in-depth thorough stuff; i stand corrected. I'm a little surprised anyone can access this; great transparency, few er secrets.. I guess my argument TUSA was faster doesn't make much sense really; its not like 2 cars side by side drag racing maybe the closest would be the start, and run to the finish on the last leg. . A lot of analysing data there, unfortunately my eyes tend to glaze over.
It looks like from what we know on the outside that it has been a very clean sporting event and if so hats off to all combatants and apologies to Coutts and Spittle and all.. Cheers JT

    from the NYTimes
America’s Cup: How Emirates New Zealand Was Able to Rout Oracle Team USA

"Some of Team New Zealand’s money troubles were linked to the decision to strip it of the chance to host a preliminary regatta in Auckland. That move by the America’s Cup event authority cost the Kiwis government funding and led to a lengthy arbitration dispute with the Cup organizers and a multimillion-dollar award this year to Team New Zealand."

    good link Joshua
Its all about doing the right thing.
Team NZ are now redeemed and clearly have had a good relationship with Prada for a long-time.
Lets hope we can keep US paws away from the cup for many years

Ernesto Bertarelli (he of Alinghi) sat out both the multi challenger multihull AC editions after losing in the multihull DoG (Deed of Gift) Match.

He's apparently now a paid up member of the New York Yacht Club - he could try and win it back for them (back to the Corinthian days) or he could come down with a French or Spanish syndicate for instance.

Apart from pilfering a bunch of excellent sailors, apart from Luna Rossa he's had a good run vs ETNZ - he's never lost to them
