    Yes, the generation/retailer side is highly competitive. The monopoly (Transpower/lines companies) not so much.

    I can understand the angst investors have here especially with this government's idealistic approach to things at the moment. There's some confirmation bias in all of this, they've decided prices are too high and now want to bring together a group of people that will affirm their views. Similar to how Cullen is the chair of the working tax group.

    Maybe this winter energy payment they've set up is a stop gap until they review and bring prices down. They've got until April/May of next year to come up with something..

    wonder how those on flick are feeling about now current north island price > $10,000/MWH HVDC flat out with over 1000 MW going south to north ....

    about 30-40x more expensive than usual ...

    The chart shows a spike from 6pm with things returning to near normal at 8:30pm. Horus will have had one of those gourmet cold soups at six, and then boiled an egg and had a slice of toast at 8:30pm, as the power price curve normalised. He will be fine.
