Hey Percy ....Metro roaring ahead of Methven. It's becoming a no contest.
No news is good news ......flat means tilting upwards I reckon.
Come next month we will wonder what the fuss about flat was ...share price 130/140 then?

We're building a new home in Wellington, harbour views and high wind zone (on edge of cliff!).
There's $50k worth of windows now installed, sourced with Metro architectural design.

After following the share price and forum...... out of interest, asked the local Door Co yesterday who are co-ordinating the work their views on Metro Glass. The response
Us: "Whats your view on metro glass?"
DoorCo: "First question we ask is, are you in a high wind zone?"
Us: "Yes"
DoorCo: "Then Metroglass is the best option"
Us: "Why?"
DoorCo: "Its by far the best performing and strongest product, unlike the cheaper options"
Us: "Do you have returns/issues at all? How do you find the aftercare service?"
DoorCo: "Very few issues, usually any changes are from clients or a mis-measure. If there is, Metro is very prompt with any changed items - size, grade, type"
So a premier product it seems... my pocket feels like we're paying for that.
Seems to me if they can get the scale and efficiency sorted in their new factory, then should start to see some gains. FWIW - The labels on all the windows, are fully coded and stamped with all the info, client detail, product, dates etc - looks organised.
Not a holder. Considering at current price level.

Nice ramp mate but it can't even break up through the 30 day MA at $1.05 at this stage so not enough of a TA signal for me to consider a reentry yet

I think possibly you're confusing Metro Glass with 'Metro Series' which is an APL line of aluminium joinery? Or the Door Co guy was? Metro Series joinery certainly a step up from cheap stuff which will reflect on your pocket. Glass is glass. Made to comply to the same stds. I'm pretty sure no-one manufactures float glass in NZ. I may be wrong. As far as I'm aware it's all imported and all we do in NZ is process it
Wellington cliff face is more likely to be 'Extra high Wind' too.

Not quite. And yes, while Metro is not manufacturing glass, their processing is more than just cutting it.
Recently went through their factory and they do have equipment to "toughen" the glass. Not a glass specialist ... but I understand the process involves temperatures of 600 plus degree Celsius - this might be the float glass you are talking about?

Float glass is simply the process of making the sheets of glass (of which it is all imported). Moulten glass floated onto moulten metal. Processing it is what we do here in NZ. Cutting, hardening, laminating, IG units, appying coatings etc. All processing that is done must comply with the NZ building standards. Only my opinion but I doubt there is significant difference from one processor to another as far as performance and strength goes. More likely any difference would be seen in quality control and customer service... and price...

Number of house sales continues their downward slide ....Sept month down 26% on same month last year
Residential building consents follow the same trend with a 2 ti 3 quarter lag (drivers of both are much the same)
Metro say their NZ sales closely correlated with residential building consents ....so next year we might see how flat flat really is
