What your growing fruit is not insured for
    1. Your growing fruit is not insured for loss connected
    in any way with:
    (a) rainfall, wind or water damage, other than flood,
to growing fruit, whether such water or moisture
originates from melting hailstones or not,

    2. Your growing fruit excess
    (a) For losses you will be responsible for 20%
    of the sum insured.

Could be a busy time for the juice plant.

Shortage of fruit pickers in the Hawkes Bay now too. Does however mention 14m cartons of apples, up from 13m previous year harvested from the region.

Quality is more important as the cherry growers found out this year - more fruit but prices were way down on last year.

Interesting price dynamics out there this year - Royal Gala at 99c kg at local Pak n Save but 19c (yes, 19c) per kg at local fruit shop.

Supermarkets are clearing previous year's stock at heavily discounted rates. None of those Royal Gala will be new season, I've had the misfortune of purchasing a few kgs a week or two earlier from Countdown under the banner of 'Season Fresh' - which they well might've been a year ago when they were grown, damn near mis-selling if you ask me..!

Hard to see the end of this selling pressure in the short term

Pak n save had the 1.5 kg bags for $3.99 for a couple of weeks proclaiming new season Royal galas, now back to 5.99 per 1.5kg bag.
However as balance says have been at 99c kg for loose Royal gala apples, these must be "old" and they are larger than what you get in the bag which then do not fit into our boys' school lunch boxes without multiple cuts, thereby creating more of the apple to go brown.
The bagged ones cut in half and all done

Shortage of workers....No. There is a shortage of orchardists willing to negotiate working hours. It seems you have to work 6 days per week or you don't need the work is their mentality.

This is one of few companies that announce annual results then follow up with the dividend announcement some 2 months later.

    Why would they do this?
