Argentina’s peso plunges in warning light for Milei

The good news - how to become a Dodgy Argy Peso millionaire much faster than before
(Please bring extra buckets & wheelbarrows)

The bad news - when they get to point of not liking - the Argy peso will only be worth a half
or less than what they started with & be left wondering where the rest went in short time.
Think that's bad .. no-one want surplus buckets & wheelbarrows when trying to run away, so have to pay to have them disposed of on top ..

“ That’s in addition to the billions he borrowed in his disastrous final years as Finance Minister, taking gross debt from the $87b he inherited to around $167b.”

It just breaks your heart really.

The Troughers of the Lost Realm with mits outstretched - anyone's guess what these did for the paid extras to be bestowed:

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politi...HNJKJLIOPGJYM/

Which MPs have the heftiest credit card and travel expenses in Q1, 2024?

Te Pāti Māori co-leader and Waiariki MP Rawiri Waititi had the highest expenses solely from Q1 at $31,653. About half of that had been spent on air travel.

A party spokesman explained Waititi lived in a rural area of his electorate which was almost 250 kilometres from the closest airport in Rotorua.

He cited calculations that showed a trip to Wellington and back could cost Waititi almost $1300. The party leader had also travelled to Waitangi, Hamilton, Palmerston North during the first three months of the year.

$1300 a trip as a further Hand out on top of Large Parliamentary Salary + fancy perks on top ?

Labour’s Manurewa MP Arena Williams was the next highest having spent $29,467.

A Labour spokeswoman explained Williams paid for her two young children to fly down to Wellington with her twice a month. She also paid for her husband once a month.

Nothing like a few additional fringe benefits hoisted on the taxpayer

and of course the Green's Talentpiece who came crashing off her bike in controversy towards end of last quarter:

Third-highest was Green Party list MP Darleen Tana, who had been suspended in mid-March amid investigations into her involvement in her husband’s E-bike business which had faced accusations of migrant exploitation.

She’d spent $28,570. A Green Party spokesman said Tana was an active MP for almost all of Q1 and her expenses also included accommodation costs from Q4 last year.

Tana also lived on Waiheke Island which increased her travel costs.

Out of curiosity, do they have to pay FBT on these perks ? If not, why not ?

Labour Bantamweight gets thrown into the Finance ring:

Budget 2024: Labour’s Barbara Edmonds prepares to go head-to-head with Nicola Willis

The next pecking duel could be interesting

The depth of the talent in Labour's decrepid bird bath obviously still reflects tide almost fully out
exposing gaping holes where past occupants have fallen through

I would have thought if travel costs are being paid for family members, as suggested in the article, then there is a clear obligation to pay FBT

    Worth noting, in the same period;
    Brooke van Velden $234.
    David Seymour $415.
    Winston Peters $1808.

    Obvious question.
Who provides the most service and leadership to the country?

The aforementioned 3 of Waititi, Williams & Tana, or the above 3?

Wonder how many bods in Parliamentary Services it takes to sort things out, or whether the Politicians have conveniently exempted expenses for their "Services" including add-ons for family travel from rules that apply to everyone else - ie the common people paying the taxes on the street ?

It wouldn't surprise one bit - just look at Salary levels, the Pension & Superannuation & ongoing other benefits for some past seat holders even after their term is done ..

Wonder what each of the Green Co-Leaders are pulling in Salary & Perks - surely it wouldn't be half each of the normal as with Parties having one leader ?

And Leaders of the fractional parties out currently mostly on holiday - ie - Te Splatti & the Bottom of the Garden Watermelon faction ?
