Plenty of trends last a LOT longer than just 2 years, WB! Aren't you interested in the big picture?
History provides a framework, a sense of perspective. It enables us to compare what is going on right now with previous booms and busts.
The aim is to learn from past. You do not need to have experienced previous crashes first hand to learn something from them! Human nature has not changed.

Understood...it's just that I read somewhere that if you interested in investing long term then it pays to go back as far as you can, however if you plan to trade short to medium term (a few days to a few months) then old data is less relevant.

You will need some historical data as well (more is better)
Findata $120 for 10 years.
Infoscan $100 for 18 years.
I have had a look at Findata.com but can't see a Findata downloader. Are you referring to Data Agent which is advertised on there site? Can't see if this includes NZX though. There is another one on there site called Real Edge, this includes a charting package and scanner. This one looks a little over the top for what I want though, at least at this stage.
I agree that for $20/month it not worth mucking around with the likes of MLDownloader.
