Although the results are better than expected they do not rate much more than reasonable in my book.

The value in Scales is the expectation that they will spend their spare cash wisely over the next few years.

Completely agree on that value comment. However, given that they sold off part of the business, I wonder if they're not looking for new investment, rather waiting for a downturn.

I'll admit that I had some qualms about selling off the storage/cold store assets. They made some moderate diversification from the horticultural investments and a hedge against adverse growing conditions. I'll withhold judgement meanwhile.

i was a big fan of the cold storage stuff too saw it as a growth engine , so be hoping they find something worthwhile. im actually a little surprised nothing has been found considering the lenght of time the sale took. no idea what to do with the funds would be a worry.

Yup.a little whole after they sold, i made a prediction that they had a big purchase lined up. They did not. Therefore i think they're waiting to set if there's an economic downturn.

Recently they lost one of their large suppliers to their Meateor business. Guess their JV with Alliance one of the reasons.....
